Guest guest
>I also have been weaing HC and wondered if all this is being caused by adrenaline due to low cortisol? Although I do take my temps every days and they didn't seem to be fluctuating a lot, just really high. IT sounds like adrenaline is being produced, the next question is why? > >I just did labs today although I can't test the PG and Estrogen for a couple weeks now. In past few tests, estrogen was fine, maybe low normal at most, definitely no where near menopause, and PG was at upper end of range, but not over. I'm a bloke and am not experienced with female hormones but from the way you are describing it Estrogen, probably low levels of, sounds a culprit. Hopefully Val or one of the other ladies can help more. Nick
Guest guest
Thanks for replying, Nick. I, too, am not sure why I'm getting adrenaline surges that time of month, although Val has said that menstruation can cause stress for some people. t to that extent? Maybe too much on top of having weaned, or having weaned too quickly. I wonder if my body steals some cortisol to make progesterone? I also just thought of this -- maybe it's thyroid dump from the extra PG in my body at that time which *can* convert into cortisol?? I didn't suffer from increased bowel transit or high heart rate, but I notice my pulse has also dropped a tad from the past week or so, even on same dose of t3 today, so maybe it wasn't getting into the cells due to low cortisol. I also was nauseas and had loss of appetite (or rather, the thought of eating made me feel ill) but put it down to the anxiety and nerves. Although it's sounding more and more like I had low cortisol the more I write this all down, as you said, it could be low estrogen, too! I'm not sure! So frustrating. One thing is 100% for sure -- the menstrual cycle affected me greatly and mucked up what is going on with my t3 and HC. Hopefully a gal can chime in here. :-) Since Val takes estrogen, she probably knows a lot about symptoms and all that, and maybe some others here do, too. Guest guest
Hot flashes are a SKIN deep thing and do not affect your core temps. They are caused bylow estrogne or an adrenaline rush. For overall high temp I would look to high thyroid, which you have determined to not be the cause, high progesterone, or infection. Guest guest
I had a very similar experience when my progesterone peaked around day 15-19 - high temps, anxiety feeling (heart pounding), couldn't sleep well, etc. I WAS on P cream for a while and had stopped 2 mts ago, but my saliva test showed extrememly high levels. Progesterone and cortisol fight for the same receptors, and some say that Progesterone converts to cortisol, so the extra cortisol could've pushed more T3 into the cells and we became hyper as a result. That's what I'm assuming, but I'm not so sure about the P converting to cortisol. My estrogen is a bit low for someone my age (35), and I just had my DHEA-S and testosterone tested, and they both tanked! T3, cortisol, DHEA, and testosterone all work together, according to my doc. And low DHEA (mine's been low for a while and have been supplementing) means less of downstream hormones: testosterone and estrogen. So I upped my DHEA today. When my P peaked and had high temps, I cut down on T3 and HC, but it didn't help much. The day after my P peaked and dropped (around day 20 for me), I felt soooooo bad that I had to dose T3 and HC in small doses hourly until I felt better. After that it's been pretty good. I'm working on reducing T3 and HC because I think I built up enough in my system. Last week's blood work showed high T3, so I'm comfortable at reducing my dose a little bit. The chill usually tells me I have just a tad too much cortisol that it suppressed adrenalin too much because my temp would still be OK or high, and taking just a little bit of T3 uses up the excess cortisol, and I no longer feel chilly. I hope this helps some. I think I might post it in the hormones group. Hello, I've had some very odd (and scary) symptoms the past few months. During the luteal phase of my cycle, my temps go up (which is normal for me) to around 99.0, but now I'm having really high temps at this time -- like waking with a basal temp of 99.1 and temps of 99.6 during the day. I feel feverish all the time (not sure if this is a hot flash or not as I don't get flushes) and I also have chills. The chills just happen mostly at night and do NOT happen after I feel feverish. Â They seems to be separate events.

Guest guest
Progesterone is a precursor to cortils and aldosterone so GOOD levels of it ar3e important, BUT it can alos MIMICK cortils and thus bind ot it;s receptors creating a form of cortisol resistance. Thsi si particularly common when progesterone is too high which often happens wiht long term use of creams supplements, especially if you lose weight! When you lose weight many hormone excesses and especially estrogne and progesterine are stored in the fat and as it is released, so are those excess hormoens. I have had issues w2iht excess progesterone several times after using creams and then even a year later losing weight. I think progesterone si best supplemented orally for this reason. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/

Guest guest
This is wierd because I get that anxiety feeling when Im OFF progesterone...OR when my estrogen is high..like midcycle. If I use more progesterone it calms me. So I have the opposite of what you guys are talking about. Hello,I've had some very odd (and scary) symptoms the past few months. Guest guest
Thanks so much for the reply, Val. Okay, so low estrogen should not be it, if I read your reply correctly. Adrenaline can't cause high temp either? I know I went into Klonopin withdrawal once when I ran out of meds and my temp did go up to 99.6 which the doc though was normal for being in withdrawal. But I don't know if that's due to the stress of withdrawal or the terrible anxiety and adrenaline rushes I was having due to running out of the med. To answer your response to same thread in another post immediately after this one, no, I do not use PG cream. I used to for a few years, but the past few months I realized I do not need it! I do take DHEA and 7-Keto DHEA, but I didn't think either could turn into progestrone -- although it was after I started taking it that I didn't have to use PG cream anymore! Any thoughts on that? How could DHEA turn into PG? I wonder now if I made myself sick from weaning HC too fast, which would account for the " flusih " feelings and adrenaline rushes? I have also read that too low cortisol can even cause fevers! The infection thing is a real possibility. I *did* feel fluish when I was running the higher temps right before my period, but why did the feelings go away as soon as my peroiod came if it was infection? :-(I don't feel sick now and the feverish feelings have gone away, but I still wonder about latent infections as last winter I came down with an active EBV infection. (Made the doc test it after I was feeling SO crappy all winter.) I wonder if it's hanging around and causing elevated temps? I had elevated antibodies last time I tested. I might have to go to one of those CFS docs because they will at least treat latent infections and I can't get a doc here to do that. But definitely something is going on because this happened with my last period as well -- super hot and nervous, thought it was thyroid, lowered that and just went hypo. Was also weaning HC at that time...so same pattern. Thanks. I know I'm complicated. Last week's blood work showed high T3, so I'm comfortable at reducing my dose a little bit.The chill usually tells me I have just a tad too much cortisol that it suppressed adrenalin too much because my temp would still be OK or high, and taking just a little bit of T3 uses up the excess cortisol, and I no longer feel chilly.I hope this helps some. I think I might post it in the hormones group. On Mon, Nov 23, 2009 at 10:59 PM, keickholt13 <keickholt13@ comcast.net> wrote: Hello,I've had some very odd (and scary) symptoms the past few months. They seems to be separate events.
Guest guest
Hi, I am new to this group and keep seeing a reference to HC -- what is this? Thanks, Beth S. Guest guest
HC is short for Hydrocortisone. It is used to replace cortisol in adrenal fatigue which i very common in hypothyroid patients. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
