This is what will happen per them...does this sound like the way it goes? 1/27/03 Stop Cytomel and start LID 2/10/03 To NucMed MD for test dose and blood work 2/12/03 WBS 2/17/03 Admit to Albany Medical Center for ablation 2/24/03 WBS Surgeon cleared me to go back to work this Sunday night (12/22). It should be interesting. I am so tired now just being a mom. I don't know how I will be a mom and also a nurse for 8 hours a night. My nurse manager was very supportive, as were my co-workers when I told them I was coming back. At least the Nuclear Med MD put in writing that when I go hypo after stopping the Cytomel I should not drive. That was a big concern for me because I have to drive 35 minutes each way plus the trip in is in the dark. I am content, for now, knowing that everything is set up. I still worry about having to wait until February to have the RAI but that was the earliest date available for admission at AMCH. The surgeon was good in explaining why I shouldn't worry so much about waiting but I can't help it... Thanks for all your support. That blood test should be done about 3 days BEFORE this. They need to know that your TSH is high enough before you get your scan dose. It's NOT going to make a difference in terms of anything about the cancer getting worse - is that what's worrying you? The only thing about waiting is that you're gonna be hypo-er (is that a word?) and have to stick with the LID a bit longer. Of course, you still have some thyroid tissue, which may help. Last time, my TSH didn't rise anywhere near as fast or as high as this time. Lemme tell you what can happen to TSH in a week. Last week on Tuesday, mine was 44.13. 6 days later it was 99.63. But you can do it! I'm still standing and walking (my husband says I look drunk when I walk, but I can do it :-).
