I know you are looking forward to part-time! went bare foot

all of the time until he got old enough he wanted to be standing when

we were out in public. Then we went and bought his first pair of

shoes. He only wears those when we go out. He even tries to pull

his socks off all of the time. He likes those tootsies bare! We've

had to be careful barefoot crawling though because we have berber

carpet and because of the overcorrection , the top outside of his big

toes takes a lot of rubbing with crawling and one day he rubbed

blisters on both toes. He walks 80% of the time now though so we

don't have to keep putting his socks on every 10 minutes after he

pulls them off!

kids go barefoot, or are they in some sort of footwear (and what

kind) during their " time out " ?

Rita,

I seem to have missed your post until I saw a reply to it. Anyway,

Jakob was about 4 1/2 months old when we started decreasing his time in

the DBB (we did not go straight from full time to part time in it).

Since it was late June, when we took the brace off, Jakob didn't wear

any shoes (or socks for that matter). That fall, I would put the soft

soled " crib shoes " mainly to keep his socks on when we went out. I

bought rubber soled shoes later that winter after we lost the bootie end

off his snowsuit and wanted heavier shoes for when we went out. At

home, Jakob still doesn't wear shoes much.

I hope that helps at least a little.

Rita,

Our daughter most often went bare foot whenever possible. I put shoes on her

to go out, but as soon as we were home, the shoes came off. I think that

walking barefoot helps develop and strengthen their feet (all babies, not

just clubfoot babies.)

is now 2 1/2 and it's funny, as soon as we come home, she throws the

shoes and socks off and goes running. Even in the backyard, I send her out

with tennis shoes on and two minutes later, she's barefoot!

When she does wear shoes, I love the Nike Tennis shoes the best, she wears

that pair of shoes the most. I have also found that Buster Brown makes a

nice, sturdy, supportive shoe also. I like to buy her those when I am

looking for her dress shoes.

  • 2 weeks later...

Zoe's doc says barefoot is best. Otherwise, cheap, flexible shoes. When we

come into the house, we remove our shoes anyway (for comfort, not

cleanliness!), so indoors she's usually barefoot. Also in the car. When we

get where we're going, I put her shoes on.

I used to let her go barefoot or sockfooted in carpeted public places, but

you wouldn't believe how dirty her feet were! Even in doctors' offices and

the library!

The other night we walked to Target and Zoe wanted to get out of her

stroller in a big way, but we had forgotten her shoes. We let her walk

around barefoot, and her feet were not dirty at all. (We were going to have

a bath when we got home, so we weren't too concerned about them getting

dirty.) She had a ball.

We love Target's shoes (and everything else).
