Guest guest
Melody, I'm sorry that you have the swelling and sore on the foot to be concerned about. Is Trent's doctor Dr. Dobbs? What did he say about it? Was the sore from the cast rubbing? I have heard that sometimes the last cast will leave the foot puffy, but it didn't happen to us, so I can't give you any firsthand experience with it. Does the foot look corrected to you? It's great that Trent hasn't had a problem adjusting to the FAB, despite the sore or swelling. It really does get easier putting the shoes on. I remember it taking forever at first, and I didn't want to take them off for anything.. But believe me, in no time it will be as easy as putting on your own shoes. To avoid pushing on his foot.. Do you undo almost all the laces? Open the shoe up wide, and then put his foot gently in, holding the heel down with one hand as you do the strap. Good luck.. I hope the sore and swelling go down soon. Take care, and > Thank you very much for all your info. We had a pretty rough day > today. We got up this morning and got on the road. Guest guest
Yes, Dr. Dobbs is his Dr. He said it was just swelling, but he didn't see it outside of the dbb. But I am gonna trust him for now that he is right. It is looking a little better, but its still swollen. And he said the sore is from the casting. Which I believe cause it was so tight by the beg. of the 3rd week in it. He is adjusting well. I figure if it doesn't start to look better by mon or tues i will call him back. Yeah I am sure it will get easier putting them on, its just with that sore, it scares me that we are gonna hurt him. but i am forcing myself. Cause we don't have the extra money to buy him new clothes that snap and all of his 12 mo stuff, not once single thing has snaps. But we are all adjusting and getting use to it. Slowly but surely. thank you everyone for your support, and suggestions and all, I will keep you posted. I am going to take pictures with my regular camera and get them developed, I will scan them and add them to the photo album so thatyou can better see what his foot/leg look like. Then maybe someone else can reassure me that it is normal. Thanks everyone. Will keep you posted. > > Thank you very much for all your info. We had a pretty rough day > > today. Guest guest
Melody, A quick thought about the clothes.. one thing you could do, in a pinch, is to cut the feet off a few pairs of footed pajamas, to create an outfit that would snap all the way off and could be worn with the FAB. I did that with a few 's pajamas.. I'm glad it's looking a little better and hope it continues to improve quickly! Good luck, and > > > Thank you very much for all your info. Guest guest
I'm so sorry about your son's leg. The foot being overextended (sideways) sounds normal, but not the swelling of the leg. What did the doctor say about the back of his leg looking disformed??? What did he say about the horrible sore?? Did water get into his cast or something? I pray he adjusts well to the DDB. I would get some answers on what is going on with his leg looking disformed though. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: Trent got his dbb >Date: Fri, 11 Oct 2002 02:23:10 -0000 > >Thank you very much for all your info.
