Yes, and you can even go to your local hospital for an ultrasound if your

doc. can't see you right away, which hopefully they can. No question is silly,

and this is not too much for you to ask for you and your baby. Good luck--

Hello,

I am 32 weeks pregnant with a BU. I have had no problems up to this

point, but today when I saw the OB he was concerned because my

fundus is not growing like he would like.. My measurements were

28cm at 30 weeks/ 29cm at 32 weeks. I am being sent back to the

Peri, hopefully with an appt in the next week or two. So now I get

to sit and worry!!!

At my last Peri appt at 30 weeks everything looked good. Baby was

on the petite side but they were not worried. He weighed 2 lbs 14

ounces at that point.

The order I was given to hand deliver to the Peri says to Eval for

IUGR which I have at least heard of before but also says SGA and OBY

(I think). Does anyone know what these are?

Has anyone else been had this problem with low growth of fundal

height but everything was fine if not, what should I expect

treatment to be. I am just worried!! I thought I was out of

the " woods " and feel a little blind sided by this development!!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi and congratulations on making it to 32 weeks :) I'm just a week behind

you!

One thing about fundal height in BU is that with our weird anatomy,

sometimes we grow more sideways than up ... but I am extremely surprised

that they didn't just take you right in for an u/s to check your growth

today!!! At 32 weeks it doesn't seem right to wait 2 weeks to check for

IUGR ... if it were me I'd pitch a fit and demand an u/s right away ...

I don't know what those other terms mean, sorry.

So... my take is that with the BU fundal height doesn't mean as much as with

normal anatomy, but it seems like enough of a warning signal to follow up

immediately, not in a week or two .... just my 2 cents :)

let us know!!!

my measurements of fundal height have been on the large side,--- at

23 w, I measured 24cm,,, and then at 28 I measured 31----- I think it

varies, according to who measures you, and where the baby is lying----

mine is on the right side, so when measured on the right, it is

larger than the left---sometimes the nurses measure you, so they

havent a clue.....so my theory is throw out those measurements,go by

what the peri says---I had a peri appt at 28 w alos, she measured 2

#12 oz (same exact as my son at that GA) and they said she was in

the 75th % of weight---and actually showed me a graph of her growth --

-which was neat to see--- so I think the peri will tell you what you

need to know..... also is baby head up or down???? I think that

would make a difference on fundal height as well...

good luck!
