Guest guest
Hi Joanne I am unsure of the specifics of the law that governs the use of infant seats in the UK. Certainly when you are looking to buy a forward facing child seat from our experience the majority of retailers will question age, weight and the child's ability to sit unaided (20mins or so). In our case the bar and boots were pushing against the back seat when our sons was still in his first seat and that was the main reason we looked for a new car seat. Owing to the fact he still wobbled like a skittle at that time, we searched for a combination rearward / front facing unit. Best wishes Tom, Corinne & Ben Re: Car Seats >Date: Thu, 08 Aug 2002 08:45:14 -0000 > > >Hi Philip > >I meant to reply earlier to your post. Guest guest
Tom I am still waiting on a reply from Iowa also, I'll keep you updated. Philip Re: Car Seats Hi Philip, We have also received our boots, everything looks OK. The only problem we have is that the appliance department ordered the right boot (non-clubfoot) slightly bigger than he currently requires the result being that the boot seems fairly slack. We might wait a couple of weeks before we use his new boots as his current ones fit well. Have you received the platizode heel insert yet? Ben is still suffering from a small blister on his heel and I feel the moulded inserts would avoid the rubbing. I have e-mailed the appropriate department in Iowa, but have had no reply. As of yet we have had no word on Ben's scan. Thanks for asking. Guest guest
Hi Philip We are home from holiday...and survived have just been reading through all your posts...sounds like you have been through it too. Car seats...We used a selection..we borrowed everyone else's to try out and we chose two..a KL jeeney which you could slope backwards to get the bar in and a wider seat..that was nameless..we found it depended on the car as to how well the seat fitted..we had three cars to choose from and each seat fitted differently in each car. Tye's seat has now turned round so we used the widest car seat to give Tye leg width. all I can say is try a selection and don't forget that as Josh gets bigger the bar gets longer!!!.That of course if you manage to get a bigger bar! The Markell boots are great although they take ages to get them on. I hope as they soften up with wear it will get easier. The bar is the correct length and I am already trying to work out where I can aquire the next length. Tye is very happy with it so far. he has aready descovered the art of turning over, crawling along on his back and getting stuck. I bulldozed the appliance guy in Sunderland to send me a length of Plastizoid which I stuck in with foam back carpet adhesive. So we have correct boots, with a correct length bar with plastizoid..We are finally on a roll! Holiday was very eventfull..and Tye learn't to swat west coast midges fast. We are not due to go back to Sunderland until Sept.. How is Josh's feet coming along?..Tye's seem to be doing ever so well.

Guest guest
Becca Good to hear you had a good time away although it doesn't sound too relaxing. We have borrowed a car seat from friends and that seems to be doing the trick at the moment. Josh's feet are coming on well and Mr De Kiewiet was please with the progress. He was not happy with our boots or bar and ordered us a new pair directly from Markell and an extendable bar. They arrived in the middle of the week and things have been great since. The Markell boots are far superior to the boots we had and have a moulded heel as well as a plastizode insert. The extendable bar is marked with angles of degrees and length markings in inches out to 15 inches in length. Josh didn't wake up until 0630 this morning, the best yet!! We do not have to return to Sunderland until 30th Sept 2002 which is a holiday of 8 weeks. Guest guest
Hi Philip I am so pleased things are looking up. The boots did look wrong and the bar...and I know what Tye was like when his were wrong..talk about sleepless nights..I wanted to give up. We have now developed another problem..Tye crawling up the bed using his bar...His head hits the top of the cot and he turns sideways and gets stuck..just when I thought our sleepless nights were over. The only way I have managed to cope is to take him into bed with me...but he is so dangerous with his bar and I am sure he is going to do someone an injury...He tries to break the kids toes and my fingers when I change his nappy...and he thinks it is funny when we scream in pain! As for the holiday I need a holiday to get over it all..Tony didn't relax until the last day..He smiled on the trip home..until we got caught in a massive traffic jam and all the floods..two adults and eight kids in a mini bus and kitchen sink packed too along with the baby bath!...Tye has learn't to do his own massage..with all the traumas that went out of the window...along with baths. All in all an unforgetable experience. Enjoy your eight weeks off..Have fun and I won't recommend camping becca
