Guest guest
My scalp was a little tender, but not actually sore. What I'd do is buy an oil treatment for your scalp and try that. Also, if your hair is below your ears, I'd cut it. I wore mine very short anyway, spiked, so as it fell out, it wasn't too, too bad, but I have a towel that I put over my pillow to catch the hairs and shake it out each a.m. Losing it is so wierd. I'd wash it, then blow dry it, and as I would blow dry, I'd get some hair in my brush. I'd carefully put it in the wastebasket. But after a few days, it was coming out in bigger batches, so I used a pick and just ran it through my hair to sorta put it in place. Then, after a few days, all I had to do was touch it and some came out. I actually still have some hair left, but it's so thin you can see my scalp all over. What I do is get it wet under the shower, but don't rub shampoo into it. Just pat it on all around and then let the shower rinse it off - quickly as you can. Then, just put a towel around it, enough to blot the excess water, and let it air dry. I then use the pick to "comb" what's left. (I do have a very thin bang in front.) I'm doing my 3rd dose A/C tomorrow. This time, I will bring a zillion popsickles with me!! Good luck with your hair. It's an ordeal, especially if yours is long. I have a wig, but I usually go around the house "bare", but I also have a couple of those "newsboy" caps and I love them. Let us know how you make out with your hair. Gail Question???? It is day # 11 since I had my first chemo. My question is: My scalp is so tender and ichy that I'm ready to scream but my hair isn't falling out YET! Is this normal? My hubby and I went to the store yesterday and I noticed how sore my scalp was when the wind blew through my hair. I had to put my hand on my head so the wind wouldn't blow it cause it hurt so bad. Is there anything I can do to take the soreness away? Does this mean my hair is going to fall out soon?? Hugs DeVoe
Guest guest
My head was sore a few days after my first chemo. Before my second one it was thinning badly and my hair is short. It helped to have my hair brushed with a soft tipped brush as it felt better as hair came out. After my 2nd chemo, 3 weeks after the first, I came home, cut it off and shaved my head. All the soreness gone. I had gotten hats from CJ as well as having tons of scarves. It has been great since and even went to work 2 days with a stretch cap and scarf. I am going to get a wig as well. But with the heat it feels great to have a bald head around the house and caps and scarves work fine for going out. Good luck..
