Guest guest
Meaghan, I get asked that a lot. Here is my story (shortened)... I used to work in a grocery store, it closed. I made my " new job " losing weight. I got my treadmill Oct 8th 2000 and just committed myself to get on there every day, even if it was just 10-20 min, it was something. That is still how I look at it. I look at it as my time for me. I crank up the music and it is my time to meditate kind of. I have it facing a window and look out at mountains. Don't get me wrong, some days I hate that thing and it is the last thing I feel like doing. I procrastinate something terrible, find anything to do but get on there but I finally do and am always glad when I'm done. I have arthritis and I can tell you this, if I don't stay active, I hurt a lot more so that is incentive for me. I think a lot of it is attitude. I may not like the exercise, but I like the results. I look at it as my " paycheck " in a way. I don't want to ever be 284 again so if I have to get on the tread everyday to avoid that, then I will. I have just joined a gym and am adding circuit training and also have been going for walks instead of the tread some days to add some variety. Also, thing is, it is still a challenge to me. I am always trying to improve my time, elevation and what not so I can't imagine reading or doing anything else. I'm working too hard! It takes all my concentration to not go flying off the back! LOL Gena > -Good for you Gena!!!!!! Do you do anything while you're on the > treadmill, like read or anything. I couldn't tolerate it for 62 > minutes otherwise. That is awesome!!!! Guest guest
--Well sounds like you're doing awesome with it Gena!!!!!!!! If I can crank the music then usually I can stay with it longer, but usually the kids are sleeping so that would be rude and defeat my purpose for waking up early-lol. When they're down there playing I can only stay into it for about 15 minutes then I have to grab a magazine or something and go to 3.8. Guest guest
Meaghan, Oh yeah, when my kids were smaller I definitely couldn't have done it. Now they think it's great! LOL Well Niki isn't home but when Cassie is anyway. But on days when her or Mike are home like weekends or home sick or something, I definitely don't do as much as when it's just me. That is because it's not just the music. I like to keep the house cool so I don't get over heated and can't do that when they are home. Also they like to watch tv. It's a small house so if one is on the other isn't. I can't read and walk like that. I have tried, just can't even read one word. Be careful if you do that, it can change your posture. The last few days I've been soo tired! It's TOM so I spose that is why. I'm going to drag my butt out for a walk this afternoon. Hope you are having a good weekend?
