Guest guest
Welcome to the world, Daweson Behnke, 10/19/04 12:21pm, 6 lbs 6 oz, 19.5 inches Behnke, 10/19/04, 12:23pm, 6 lbs 6 oz, 19.5 inches born at exactly 36 weeks had a little trouble with jaundice and lost too much weight (jaundice makes them sleep all the time), so we had to leave him at the hospital one extra night and supplement with formula. We think we can bring him home today though 's lungs are still immature and he has been in the NICU since birth receiving oxygen (through a cpap- those little nose prongs). Thursday he got a treatment of surfactant to help his lungs mature, and as of yesterday he was breathing room air just slightly pressurized Because of the cpap he can't suck, so he is eating through a feeding tube (I am trying to express milk to take in now that it's come in). Once he can breathe properly (soon I hope!) they have teach him how to suck, then he can come home too, hopefully some time next week. I've had a bit of a time recovering, the surgery went fine but they had to give me some weird drugs (I hallucinated while they were delivering the babes, that's a story in itself LOL!) and LOTS of fluids to keep my BP up so I'm swollen like a balloon, plus I have bronchitis, luckily not constant coughing but any is bad with that incision! But I came home last night and feel pretty good as long as I've got my pain meds I will try to post pics on the website! hugs Mikki
Guest guest
Congratulations Mikki! I'm so happy for you! Glad to hear the boys are doing well and that you are not in too much discomfort (although I'm sure I'd be whining like crazy in your position!). Keep us posted on your and a and 's progress. Guest guest
Congratulations, Mikki!! I've been eagerly awaiting your announcement and I'm so happy to hear that everything went well for you. And WOW that both boys weigh the exact same and are the exact same length--that's amazing! I hope you're able to bring them home soon, but get some rest while you can. How's it feel to finally put those bowling balls down?!? You must feel amazing, regardless of the bronchitis and the incision... Keep us updated and post pics when you can!! Guest guest
Mikki, CONGRATULATIONS, Mama, you did a darned good job keeping those boys in there and it has paid off with two beautiful healthy (and identically weighted!) boys. I'm sure will be home in no time. You are an inspiration to everyone who gets pregnant with one OR two babies on this board -- your great attitude and constant sense of humor while lugging around 13 pounds of baby in a BU were incredible. Enjoy your precious babies! PS oh and DO tell about the hallucinations when you get a chance... It's not surprising, really... your body has been through heck, you need to take darned good care of yourself the next year or so!

Guest guest
Congratulations Mikki! Good work girl! You are so strong, it's unbeleivable! And always in such a good spirit. I'm sure you don't feel physically great right now, but know that you are a huge inspiration for all of us in here (I think I can speak for everyone), to brave the difficulties and never lose hope that one day, we can all get there. Thank you for that and I hope your little men come home very soon!
