Calories too high is the most common problem with getting the diet

working well. Ask how she arrived at that level of calories. You should

take careful weight measurements each week on the diet and keep records

to compare with calories. This will help you to find the best level for

calories. You may also get vomiting if there is too much food and you

are on a high ratio.

It sounds a bit high to me, but depends on the child. My son is 8 and on 1300

calories. He started at age 18 mos on 850 calories a day. I think the number

you came up with sounds more in the ballpark, unless he needs to gain. Is he at

50%ile for weight?

Questions on diet calculations

Hi

We met the dietician today for the first time and she has calculated

a diet for us based on a total daily calorie intake of 1,500 kcal.

Does this sound right ?

is nearly 3 years old, weighs 16.2kg and is of quite a lean

build but I wouldn't say underweight.

From what I calculated from the hopkins book, I would have placed him

nearer to 1,100 kcal/day based on weight and based on 75% of RDA.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Also - they have calculated the diet based on LCT/MCT - is this the

current best practice or is the classical diet best in everyone's

opinion.

Kind Regards

" The Ketogenic Diet....a realistic treatment option, NOT just a last

resort! "

List is for parent to parent support only.

It is important to get medical advice from a professional

keto team!
