I give you answer from my experience. I had my resection in Dec. of

2002 and couldn't of imagined a better experience.

I had one stitch by my belly button and 2 on each at the bottom by

the pelvic bone.

> How many did you have? 5 all together and I didn't know it until

they fell off.

> How long did you bleed after the surgery? I'm not sure because the

morning of my surgery I was starting my period. First one I got on

my own in 2 years and it showed up that morning.

> When did you feel better to go back to work? I actually felt fine

the same day. Just groggy from the surgery itself. I had no pain at

all. I'm not saying this will be the case, but I don't think you'll

be in a lot of pain. I do offer you this. By Gas-X or something to

help with Gas. That was the worst part for me. They inflate your

uterus with air so they can see and it all travels up into your

shoulders. I didn't have any at home and made my husband go buy it

because it was horrible. The only thing that helped was standing.

It lasted about an hour and then I was fine. I had my surgery on

Friday and was Christmas shopping on Monday. I could of gone

Saturday but my RE said no driving until Wednesday so I had to wait

for my friend to take me.

Good luck, it's not bad and like I said the gas was the worst for me.

Hi Ally,

Getting these questions answered should help to calm your nerves

before the surgery, although for me, the excitement that it was

finally happening just couldn't be extinguished. I had 2 surgeries.

The first was lap/hys and the second was hys only (no lap) to resect

my partial SU.

Best advice I got was to take a pillow with me to hug against my

belly on the ride home. The pressure is comforting. Also wear

something super comfortable like yoga drawstring pants (Old Navy has

nice ones for around $20). Your abdomen will probably be bloated and

tender for awhile. The bloating goes away in a day or so, but the

tenderness took about 10-14 days to go away completely...so plan on

wearing your pants that fit loosely for a few days.

per incision site (one at bottom of belly button and one on left

lower abdomen/bikini area.

> How long did you bleed after the surgery? First surgery I barely

bled at all...a pantiliner for a day or two was all. However 2nd

surgery I had a moderate-period-like bleed that lasted about 5 days.

> When did you feel better to go back to work?

With the lap/hys I had surgery on a Wed and went back to work on

Fri...big mistake. I was still sore and tired and left to go back

home at lunch time. The second surgery with the hys only I felt 100%

better by the very next day! Having the lap does add extra burden to

your body. Also, other members that have mentioned having

endometriosis removed reported longer times until they were feeling

better; I think they suffered more pain from the removal of the endo.

Hi Ally! Congrats on the short wait! With my resection, I didn't

come home with an IUD or cath or any hormones...so my recovery was

pretty easy. I had my resection on a Thurs and was back at work on

Monday. I just pretty much took it really easy the first two days,

and sat around the house and watched tv. But I felt pretty good, I

did take a couple advil but no major pains. I also didn't really

bleed but for a couple days and I wound up getting my period right on

time as I normally would have. I also had some endo burned off. The

best tips for the surgery is to write your questions on a piece of

paper and have your DH, S/O or whomever give it to the dr and get his

answers....like some of mine were how long was the septum, was there

any endo, did he feel he got all of the septum, etc...my doc also

gave my DH pictures and wrote on them what they were.
