Guest guest
- I am sorry to hear your bad news - but hope that you can take comfort in at least knowing what is hapenning with your child and having options on what to do about it. It would probably be easier for him to adapt to the CI sooner as opposed to later. I wish you all the best Colin _________________________________________________________________ online games and music with a high-speed Internet connection! Guest guest
Oh - how hard! I know as a parent to two boys with hearing loss that's my worst fear - that their hearing will get worse. Be gentle with yourself. Take care Barbara --- You wrote: had a bad check up. Recap... (age 4)began losing his hearing in January 2002. Aug. 2002 he was " diagnosed " with a progressive hearing loss in both ears.. The docs don't know why or what caused it. Last Aug he had a moderate loss. He usually loses about 5dc every 6 months or so. In September of this year he was a mod-severe loss. Sunday I noticed his behavior change...easily irritated and all week his teachers were saying he wasn't behaving as well as he normally did. Soooo I got his hearing checked. lost 15-20dc in both ears!!!!!! So he is now severe-profound. We were at the doc for 2 hours. Talked to Dr. Novak the ENT and he said we need to start the process for a CI. He may not need it (I think he was just being nice), but to get the insurance paperwork started. Surprisingly I am doing ok. Last year I was a total basketcase and miserable. I'm still kinda sad but I think deep down I could see this coming. Nobody thought it would be this fast, but here we are. --- end of quote ---

Guest guest
I'm so sorry that things aren't going well. I will be praying for you. I hope the CI stuff goes smoothly if you choose to go that route. -- Re: B-A-D check up Oh - how hard!
