Guest guest
, how the heck are you? >> As one of the original members of this group, I just wanted to drop in and say hi to many of my old friends who I see are still here.<< And a great bit HI right back at you. We've been worried about you over at PEPTIC and I was frustrated in finding I didn't have your contact info. It's great to hear from you!!! For those of you who don't know, this discussion group was started as a joint venture from a handful of us - being the 'brains' behind it's start. I just lended my name to the group, and my time, to get it started. >> He's in 7th grade, mainstreamed in one of the most gentle, caring public middle schools in Baltimore County.<< Hey , did you know we moved? We're in County! It would be wonderful to meet, greet, and hug you. I'm sure that JD would enjoy it also. We just went today to the National Archive and JD was actually interested in the documents and read them!!! He even surprised me when he turned to me and said that the cursive of the originals was a little bit hard to read and it was easier to read when in print like in his textbook. The high school JD's in is very supportive to him and his needs. When we went to visit the schools this summer and make a decision on them, the vice principal even drove around with us telling us which areas we wanted to avoid living in and which ones were OK. We ended up moving outside of the boundaries for this high school, but nobody gave us any problems about him going there. At the 504 meeting it was decided that if this is where JD felt that his needs would be best met, then that's where he would go. He's taking ASL as a second language (which is the reason he chose this high school - the others didn't offer it - and they're even paying for me to take a beginning ASL class as well). He doesn't get foreign language credit for it, but he can make up for it by taking advanced technology classes instead - like keeping him away from any of the computer classes would even be an option. ;-) When we were going over what classes he would be taking, they offered him advanced classes in all of them. He only wanted to take a few advanced classes: English, Math, Keyboarding (which is actually an advanced class to learn to use MS Office products) Science, and I think one or two others. He's doing great in all of them. His lowest grade was in his government class, and that was a B so I can't complain too much. ;-) Contact me off-list if you would like to get together sometime. I'm sure we can somehow find the time for our two busy families to get together sometime, somewhere. Hugs, -Kay ---- Kay kay@...
