36 Weeks & Getting Scared

Hi Ladies,

This is Bridget and I'm now officially 36 weeks pregnant. The

closer I get to my due date, the more scared I'm becoming. I've

been having Braxton-Hicks contractions for at least the last 8

weeks, but lately they've been very strong--to the point where I

have to sit down and wait them out.

I think it's a combination of things--the pain of labor, the unknown

demands of " motherhood " , the fact that this was an accidental

pregnancy not planned, etc. I'm just plain scared to death... I go

to bed every night wondering what if I can't do this, what if I can't

juggle motherhood & career (I have to work), what if I'm one of

those people that just wasn't meant to be a parent??? Anyone

else have these concerns?

Bridget

Hi,

We are due date mates!

This is my second and your concerns are right on target with what I went

through during my first. First off, so far everyone I know has gone through

the fears (including and sometimes, worse, the Daddy's!). It will pass, and

if you do need help, reach out and ask, EVERYONE. My husband has to travel

extensively, I have been asking everyone for help --- including just placing

an ad in the paper for housekeeping (great response by the way). So I have

mom, and some other relatives coming in directly after the C-Section, I have

great neighbors, and I will hopefully even have some housekeeping help.

Good luck and feel free to write!

JJ.

PS this time I stressing out over making sure the house is ready. Would you

believe for the first we forgot to have diapers when we got home from the

hospital? Not to mention, we were trying to nurse and needed help with the

instructions (there were none....) for breastfeeding. A lactation consultant

came out of her way to our house and gave hands on (literally) help.

Good luck.
