Guest guest
Sorry for all of the questions, guys, but I just found out last Wednesday that we are going to Hopkins for the induction next week! I got the info packet in the mail today. In it, they say I need to order the RCF, Polycose, and Microlipid asap so that I have it when we get back home. They tell me to order direct from the companies or from the pharmacy, but I know these are prescription items, right?! They list the exorbatent costs for each, as well. Even though I am in NY State, they will write prescriptions for me if I call, right? (They say it takes 10 days for the formula to come, so that's why I am writing you now as opposed to waiting to talk to Hopkins tomorrow!) We have Blue Cross, and the Medicaid Waiver for Disabled Children as a secondary insurance for my Jimmy. Please advise! Thanks for all of your help and support! -Sue Ellen:) Syracuse, NY Mom to Jimmy! 23 months old
Guest guest
Sue Ellen, We use the RCF formula and we get it through our home health care. They deliver it to our door within a couple of days of ordering it. Insurance covers most if not all of the costs. My insurance is not that great, but we do get some fixed amount to spend on home health care and this covers the RCF. I can't remember if I had to have a prescription or not,but I did have to find a home health care company that accepted my insurance and they needed a few hours to set it all up. I think you can get all three of the items you need from home care. The hospital should send you home with enough supplies to get by for a week or more so you have time to find the supplies if you can't get a hold of them prior to going in. Don't forget the liquid vitamins. We use Cal/Mag/Zinc III from Whole Life Foods in California . This is very important. Also, you will need a digital scale for measuring his meals. We used a 200 gram scale from Ohaus. It cost about $75. Don't have the number, but if you search around on the site, you'll find it. It is used by a lot of people here.
