Guest guest
donna, sorry to hear about the latest problem you have been having, its always better to be home and in your own bed. My husband has been on dilantin ever since he was first diagnosed in july/02, with rectal cancer, mets to his liver and one on his brain. I did wonder why he had to stay on them all this time even though he had never had a seizure in the first place, they increased his dosage when he had his brain surgery (3 per day) now we are back to 2 a day. they do a dilantin blood test at least once a month as an over dose can happen, they like to keep his around 30-35, in jan./03 his had climbed to 297,he was very agitated, feet and hands were uncontrollably twitching, felt like he was jumping out of his skin. They took him off for about a week, and now are watching it alot closer. We are still having problems with the warfarin, now he takes 3mg. one day and 4 the next day, will test again on monday. I wonder if it ever stabilizes or is it always like this? We are just waiting for him to start chemo again, so seem to be in the safe mode right now, that too will change I'm sure. Hope your husband is getting some strength back, doreen
