Hi,

I have only belonged to the group a few weeks. I got a good giggle out of your

email. It sounds like you have a very bright young boy on your hands. Let us

know any updates.

I just got back onto the site after much too long away and it's nice

to see news of old friends and lots of new people benefiting from

the info here. First off, thanks to all of you who posted messages

and sent private ones wishing Dinos a happy second birthday. Sorry I

am so delinquent in replying. Dinos keeps me too busy. If he'd been

the first child, he would have been the ONLY child! Nothing his

sister ever did prepared me for this. Anyway, an update...

from what I've seen in recent postings, it seems Dinos is notorious

for getting out of his DBB. Well, he still can get out, and even

tho' he knows now how to untie the laces, he makes a point of not

bothering with either them or the buckles when he wants out; he just

gets out. He mostly humors us by staying in it at night, but we only

manage about ten hours per night and not the 14-16 per day that Dr.

Ponseti recommended. Dinos just doesn't sleep that much and won't

tolerate it for even a minute once he's awake. I envy those parents

who write of children who happily sit in their braces to watch a

video and eat breakfast. Dinos' first word, every day, upon opening

his eyes is " OFF!!! " as he pulls his heels up and out. I'm lucky if

I can get one shoe unbuckled before he's out of both of them. And

there is no question of putting them on him for naptime. He gave up

his morning nap a year ago and only sleeps about an hour in the

afternoon. He wakes immediately if I so much as slip a shoe on his

foot as he's sleeping. So, we get in as many hours as we can (long

car trips he's in it) and we hope it won't affect his progress. We

saw Dr. Feldman in NY a couple of months ago and he said Dinos' feet

look great and we can probably have him out of the brace after

another year. His feet work great, anyway. He never walks, just

runs at top speed everywhere. His legs seem amazingly strong; it

must have been all that early intensive training, waving his casts in

the air. He's broken the clamps on his bar twice, and currently the

two pieces are riveted together, courtesy of our local hardware

store. From his climbing escapades around the house, I must say he's

in training for doing Everest in the near future. We plan to see Dr.

Ponseti soon, perhaps in November.

Best wishes to all of you.

Pamela,

It was great to hear from you! I'm glad Dinos is doing well. Still

a little Houdini, huh? That's hilarious! I'm glad he's keeping them

on at night for you at least!

Please let us know when you'll be in Iowa this fall. We are also

expecting to go back for 's check-up later in the year.

Regards,

Pam,

It is so good to hear from you again. I have been thinking about you

and wondering how Dinos was getting along. Are you sure he isn't

preparing for a future as a professional escape artist? I'm glad to

hear that Dr. Feldman thinks his feet look great and obviously, getting

out of the DBB isn't hindering his correction.

Let me know when you plan to see Dr. Ponseti. We'd love to see you

again.

Let me know about when you'll be heading back to Iowa for 's check up.

We are holding out as long as possible with this pair of shoes that

has. She had some sort of growth spurt in her feet this past two weeks and

her toes are now already at the edge. We told Dr. Ponseti we'd see him

sometime this fall. As it looks it might be as early as September for us.

P.S. She's successfully spent two nights in her big girl bed, and LOVING it!

She looks so little in it though! Also...........did you have your level II

yet? I've been thinking about you a lot lately!
