Guest guest
hi. i am hoping that someone can help me with a very specific supplement question. i think i have read that it is better to get your vitamins and minerals from your food because absorption and utilization will be much more greater. i also understand it to be very bad to supplement with calcium and not have the right ratio of calcium/magnesium. I have 3 children who i am hoping to supplement with Ca/Mg who are currently on a limited dairy intake. My boys they are happy to have it dosed as a homemade banana ice pop. My daughter is gagging on anything i put Ca/Mg into. Does anyone know whether is a food where Ca/Mg are balanced in nature? I was told that ratios of magnesium should be such that Mg is 50-100% of the amount of Calcium. And if there is no food where it is naturally balanced I am wondering if that mean that it doesnt have to follow this rule if being consumed from a whole food source. i am hoping someone has pondered these same issues before and might help me. offlist would be fine email: writeme79@... thanks donna

Broths made from chicken bones etc. have both calcium and magnesium. I don't know the ratios.
