As to SCD, it is certainly worth a one month trial as results on this group are very favorable. SCD requires strict compliance but the food that is allowed spans a generous selection and because it is unadulterated, is really delicious. Typically there is a negative appearing 'die off " initially, but once that is past, food is better tolerated and progress begins. Have a look at the book " Breaking the Vicious Cycle " if you have not already as it will address many of typical concerns of those just getting started. I've been on SCD for four years and would be content to follow it for life. That does not mean it's for everyone, but I certainly suggest a trial to those who ask. Carol F. Guest guest
Welcome to the list I am considering giving this diet a try on my 3.5 > ASD son. My daughter and husband joined us on the diet even though they had no reall bowel problems - DH lose 50 stubborn pounds and Em's mild eczema cleared up as did the slight dark circles under her eyes. > Does any one has a ASD child with yeast problem > without symptoms of Diarrhea or constipation and > benifit from the ASD diet? > My son used to have severe yeast infection when he > was infant. There have been ASD children who have benefitted from the diet who had no overt bowel symptoms. Maybe some of the parents will write in to you. Guest guest
Dear I am very new to the list. My 3.8 year ASD son had been on the SCD for 2 weeks. We were GF/CF before. My son is reacting wonderfully to this diet in a very short period of time. I, like your husband, believed that my son did not have any " overt bowel symptoms " and since I saw no constipation or diahrrhea I believed his " gut " was just fine, until...I started keeping a journal on his " poop " ! This is when I realized that nothing was " overt " but this is what I saw...1st day pooped 2x, soft, 2nd day pooped 3x very small normal, 3rd day pooped 1x, soft to loose, 4th day no poop, 5th day pooped 2x, etc. etc. normal but really not! I'm not saying your son has GI problems I'm just saying that it may not be as " healthy " as it could be. I believe that my son has a leaky gut...especially since I am seeing so many cognitive improvements and poop improvements. Already he is pooping 1x a day and even at the same time of day so again I encourage you to give it a try. I am struggling myself but I will be glad to help you if I can. Also...Thanks to all who post I read every single one of them & all of you have helped me save time & energy!
