It is exciting that there seem to be more and more products available

(even Subway is advertising an Atkins wrap sandwich). The trouble

with a lot of the low carb products are that they are high in

protein, at least I've found this to be true. Protein is limited on

the diet, too.

Mike, you might want to consider trying the Atkins diet for a

while with your child. Hopkins just did a very small study that

found it to be effective in some kids for seizure control. They are

in the midst of a bigger study now. Your child may do best with a

strict keto diet, but the Atkins version would probably give you an

idea if it offers promise in helping. Some on the group are using

the Atkins approach now that they have come to the point of weaning

their kids from the diet.

I asked Dr. Ritter about trying the Atkins vs. the Keto and while I think he

agreed that the Atkins can help with seizure control I think he said that it

probably wouldn't work for someone as young as Broc (2).
