When I took my 2000 Server test I got lost on the way and was sure I was

going to have to forfeit the money for the test. I was crying all the

way there, stressed to the max. I was shaking when I went in so badly

that the lady came from around the counter and hugged me, telling me it

was going to be okay. I went in, sat down, took a deep breath, thought

" I'm never going to remember anything. I'm going to fail anyhow. " Click

click click click...ten minutes later I came out stunned. I had gotten

my first 1000 on a test (and only). I don't know how. I didn't remember

any of the questions. I just went into auto-pilot and clicked. I think I

was so stressed that I had just completely pushed everything else out of

my mind, allowing it to focus. I remember a few questions where I didn't

feel like I had a clue, so I just went " Oh well, I'm failing anyhow.

I'll just make an educated guess. "

I hope I didn't fail this one (I won't get my results for about six

weeks) because I haven't failed one yet, but if I were a betting woman

I'd say I did. I came out of there after three hours with brain mush

leaking out of my ears! I have to be honest, while I enjoy PASSING these

tests, the amount of stress I put myself under makes me insane!

I just have MS and Comptia certs because that's what I teach right now,

but I'm interested in adding Cisco. I have to bring up our numbers

first. I'm hoping that happens soon because while I believe the OS certs

have some value, I think they are boundless without hardware

experience...but we don't have hardware to learn on! Some of the kids

are involved in the tech team and can work, very limitedly, on our

switches and routers, but not enough so that they truly know how to

program one. It just gives them enough experience to understand which

one does what. I think that's a real " hole " in the program, but what are

you gonna do? I'm only one person. It's hard to find IT teachers for

high school (for obvious reasons).

Congratulations on your certs! I know all too well how much stress is

involved!

Tory,

If you ever need any of the CISCO study guides.......or anything let me know. I

am setting up a home lab and I could give you telnet access if you wanted it. I

have thought about taking the A+ or some of the Microsoft certs but I want to

finish the cisco first.

Same with the Microsoft or A+ stuff from here, . A+ is seriously

easy...so easy in fact that each test took me only ten minutes and when

I finished the second one I almost felt let down. I'd studied so hard

for THAT!? In fact, my A+ class, at the high school level, has MUCH

harder tests than the actual CompTia tests. Of course that test is

changing and maybe the next version will be more difficult. I think that

would be a good idea.
