Hi Cheryl,

You may not be an expert, but no one knows your child better than you. I have

found that time in time again, my gut instinct was right, even when I was told

by many it wasn't. My daughter's receptive and express language was age

appropriate too at that age, but her articulation was lacking, it was a great

concern of mind also. I was told the same thing regarding the delay could be

caused by her language gain, and I have noticed this to be true in our case.

Especially when it's noticeable language gains. My daughters articulation

becomes very sloppy.

However, she was also under amplified for 2 1/2 years and once the aids were

boosted up, we noticed a huge difference in her articulation within weeks.

However, I was the one that felt she was not aided right, and the audie insisted

she was. It's wasn't until we switched audies at the age of 3 because of our

concerns not being met, that we found out she was under amplified. I was so

concerned on letting them boost up her aids 20 dbs, in fear she would be over

amplified and cause more hearing loss. We took the gamble that the new audie was

correct, because we felt so strong that she wasn't amplified correctly, and we

figured time will tell and we noticed a major difference in a couple weeks.

You are around your child more than anyone else and you are an expert on what is

best for her. If you feel she is aided properly than stick with your gut it

doesn't hurt to get another opinion, only sometimes we just get more frustrated!

lol!
