Guest guest
Wow . You did have a long day. I bet that was very hard hearing him cry and not be able to fix it, plus I'm sure he doesn't understand. I bet it will all be worth it. Keep us posted on his recovery. Guest guest
> Surpirsingly I was not overly > nervous or anxious this weekend. You're the first person I've had tell me they had the same outlood that I did. I wasn't worried or nervous either, for some strange reason. Maybe it's because I knew my son's surgeon cares about 'his kids' so I knew he was in good hands, but I honestly can't say that's why. I just knew that I didn't need to be nervous (and I'm generally nervous whenever he's out of my sight - but that's another story.) > it was a total of about 6 1/2 hours! It was a > very long day. The team was very optimistic about how everything went. That was a long time, but at least they took their time when things got challenging. > and he disconnected his IV That takes me back a few years. When JD was 1 (14 years ago), he was being hospitalized for 'reactive airway disease that was nonresponsive to treatment'. When the night nurse came in to check on him, his IV tubing got caught in the side of the crib when she lowered it, and when she put it back up, his IV came out. Later (I don't recall how much later) a tech came in to check his vitals. Trying not to wake my son up, he didn't turn on the light when he did took his blood pressure. JD started stirring and I went over to calm him and noticed his bedding was all wet. I turned the light on to find out why and to my horror I saw blood all over the place. While trying to find the source of the blood, I noticed that the tech stood frozen right where he stood, only moving after I yelled at him to 'go find someone who knows what the hell they're doing'. > I hope tomorrow will be better. I certainly hope it was, and that tomorrow will be even better! If I were there I'd give you a big hug, but since I'm not, a 'cyber-hug' will have to do. A great big 'cyber-hug' to you! -Kay
