Guest guest
Hello all, I started my first round of clomid this month and now I am on day 22 of my cycle. This is the first time I have ever taken this medication and really do not like the way it is making me feel. First, I have been extremely moody. One second I am happy, the next mad as mad can get, etc. Second, I have had pain since about day 7 of my cycle on my left side (my good side) which was almost unbearable around the time of ovulation. The pain has subsided to more discomfort now, but still won't go away. Since about that time, my chest has become extremely sore also. I have had absolutely no desire for sex, which is great considering we are ttc, because I do not want to be touched. DH is fed up with me with my mood swings and lack of desire. Has anyone else had these symptoms while taking clomid? Do the symptoms subside after taking it for a few months? Or is this medication not agreeing with me, thus the extreme side effects? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, UU, ttc 2 years
Guest guest
Hi ! I have taken clomid for both of my pregnancies, however, I never really experienced the symptoms you are describing. The only symptom I think that I had might have been the mood swings. I also think that it might have made me have a few hot flashes as well, but I'm not sure. The first time I took it, my dr. had me take it on days 5- 9 and it took 3 months for me to conceive. This time, my dr. told me to take it on days 1-5 and it worked the first month. It seems like the moodiness would subside after a week or two of taking it, but by then it's nearly time to take it again. Trust me though, it will be worth it in the end when you get that positive result! What days is your dr. having you take it on? Just curious. Also, just make sure that you let your doctor know about the symptoms you are having, just in case. Especially about the soreness in your chest. I know that a lot of women have a lot of different symptoms with this stuff, but talk to your dr. just to be sure that your symptoms are normal. Anyway, good luck ttc! Guest guest
When my doc prescribed clomid for me, she warned my DH that it would make me moody. He, in turn, asked if she would also write him a " prescription " at a local beer distributer! Hmm...at least the 2 of them shared a good laugh over it! (Not so funny from my perspective!) But, apparently the mood swings are fairly common! I also had a LOT of pelvic pain while taking it. Both ovaries would just ache leading up to ovulation and then again as AF approached. Again, I was told that this was normal. It kind of stinks, but I guess it is worth it if it helps (which it did for me-after 3 months.) Hang in there! Wishing you tons of babydust! Guest guest
Hi - I was on a few rounds of Clomid and experienced similar reactions, except that I was expecting them and I was not against having sex. Mood swings, hot flashes, headaches, and more pain with ovulation are all normal side effects from Clomid. Part of the reason you experience more pain and discomfort with ovulation is that you are growing multiple eggs rather than just one. I tried to remember that when I was sore, just take it easy, and thought about the fact that I was having multiple eggs and increasing my chances for a baby and that would get me excited. For me, and everyone is different, when I increased the dosage, the side effects diminished. Best wishes!!!
