Guest guest
Hi, This is my 1st time here. I'm a 61 year-old athletic male. I've had AF since 1981. I was hospilalized then & converted to sinus rythym with drugs. Periods of AF have become much more frequent as years passed. Increases in, and changes of drugs just stopped helping. The drugs just sapped me of all energy, and I was unable to complete even simple things like mowing the lawn. My Dr. finally agreed that I was ready for ablation. I had the procedure at Cleve. Clinic, by Dr. Tchou 4 weeks ago. It has been a total failure thus far. I have been in AF continuously since I had the procedure done. They tried to cardio-vert me several times, with no results. The Dr. wants to wait 3 months to " see what happens. " He also mentioned that maybe some of the drugs I had been taking might be more effective now that the ablation has been done. NUTS!! The main reason I had it done was to stop taking them. One of the problems I have is that my insurance only pays 80% of all costs. That means that I'm going to have to come up with $6-8,000. I may not be able to afford having this done again. What are my options? Any/all suggestions will be very welcome.
