Guest guest
I'm not. I just wanted to try ERFA Thyroid. 1 grain does not make me feel good, that's for sure. Either it's too little (it is too little anyway) or it's rT3 doing this! I have one bad experience after being on T3 and T4 combo for 4 years, up til 2008. Atrial fibrillation. My Ferritin was at 166, so it was not the Ferritin. It COULD'VE been low cortisol, causing T3 to not enter the cells.... What do you guys think of this theory? So I am a little worried about taking T3, yes. But not reluctant! I understand it might be the only way to feel better! BUT I also worry about the low ferritin I have (now at 53, though without stopping iron-intake before I did the test!) . . . and I'm probably not on enough HC yet either! Guest guest
I am brand new to this, but from everything I'm reading, if you have RT3 issues anything with T4 in it is only going to make things worse and T3 ONLY is the only thing that will help clear out the excess RT3. Am I missing something? (this is not a sarcastic question). What would happen if you just stopped taking any thyroid meds while you worked on raising Ferritin and getting your HC to the right levels. Again, I'm trying to understand how these three medicines interact. It seems very complicated! Regards, Lea Ann Re: How to calculate the rT3-ratio? I'm not. Guest guest
Yeha it makes sense. However, when FT3 looks " ok " and rT3 is there too, and rT3 blocks T3 from entering the cells even if FT3 is high enough.. THAT is scary. This is possible too, right? Like you think you're fine but you're not cause you have a reseptor problem? > > No it is not possible for healthy person ot have thta ratio. It will > block too much T3 from reachign the cells. Guest guest
This is getting interesting. The main change of my health started in January 208 when I got A-fib. Now, 3 weeks before I got that A-fib, my FT3 was at 16 (range 3.5 - 7.0) and I was on 100 mcg T4 and 40 mcg T3, the same dose I had kept for 4 years. Before that I was on approx. 125 mcg T4 only. Now... What on EARTH could've caused my FT3 to get to high? I guess rT3 was not an issue - FT3 would've been lower if this was the case? In your opinion, what would make my FT3 get so high, and was it the very high FT3 alone that gave me A-fib, or something else too? (Probvably that " something else " gave me that high FT3!) I've been thinking 24/7 about this since it happened. Desperately looking for an answer. > > Yes thta is called euthroid sick syndriome. whdere oyu have plenty of > thyroid but RT3 is blocking the T3 form the cells. Guest guest
Why on earth won't the general medical system in the world believe, and treat rT3-sick people? I mean, rT3 isn't invisible like " Hypothyroidism Type 2 " is. I'm starting to wonder... Could a problem with rT3 be the reason for why I got sick in the first place when I was 13? Hey I remember something... I did a blood sample in my teens, while being sick, though no metabolism was checked. They didn't do thyroid tests in the mid 90s in Norway - USA was the first to do that... not that I love blood tests for Hypothyroidism, cause I think symptom diagnosis is the only way to go! A blood sample in my case will only confirm that I have Hypothyroidism Type 2, because you can't tell that I have it by looking at my FT3/FT4/TSH values! Anyway, what I was about to tell was that the doc said my calcium was too high. I was like 16 or 17 at the time. And 300 lbs. And Hypothyroid without knowing about it. I wonder if PTH can be the cause of my tachycardia at least! Through all these years... Can anyone understand why my tachycardia suddenly ended in February 2008? This is when I stopped taking T3-meds. (And got very sick, like I still am this day today!)

Guest guest
From Wikipedia: " Ill patients may have normal to low TSH depending on the spectrum of illness. Total T4 and T3 levels may be altered by binding protein abnormalities, and medications. Reverse T3 are generally increased signifying inhibition of normal Type 1 enzyme or reduced clearance of reverse T3. Generally the levels of Free T3 will be lowered, followed by the lowering of Free T4 in relation to severity of the disease.Patients might have high corticosteroid level. " High cortisol levels? The causes they list as possible reasons for why this condition appears is trauma, amongst others. I had a sewvere trauma in the spring of 2007. Leading me into a state of constant stress until I got A-fib in early 2008 and T3 meds were removed from me, plus a plan to remove T4 as well. Now, I believe it was wrong of the hospital to try to remove all my meds. I _AM_ Hypothyroid, but what about high cortisol... Doesn't high cortisol resemble the beginning of Adrenal Fatigue? First it's high, then low? Can that explain the stres I felt all thru the summer and fall of 2008, into 2009 leading me to A-fib? I am trying to put together the pieces of this immersively complex puzzle... Is in face " euthroid sick syndriome " a description of having an rT3-issue? Like I probably have, and others in this group have/had as well? Is it the same? > > Yes thta is called euthroid sick syndriome. whdere oyu have plenty of > thyroid but RT3 is blocking the T3 form the cells. Eventually T3 levels > will drop wiht this too. Guest guest
I really know nothing about parathyroid hormones and issue wiht it but maybe your body reacts due ot the calcium imbalance. Guest guest
Yes. That sounds like a plausible theory. Adrenaline. I remember being SEVERELY stressed. Every single day, from May, to February, when we removed T3. Removal of the T3-med removed my EXTREME feeling of stress. BUT it didn't remove the stress completely. Only when I got on HC this summer (June 2009) I felt my stress go away, slowly. It was a good feeling. I've been feeling a little stressed every now and then, especially in the last few days. Is there a reason for why I could have high adrenaline NOW, Val? Like, taking 20 mg HC (too little) for 6 months, when I really need more? I was also reading a little about Euthyroid today. What if I became Euthyroid after being stressed all thru 2007 with high adrenaline? Is Eurhyroid the " public medical systems " way of describing rT3-dominance btw? They say if you are Euthyroid, do NOT take thyroid meds - Treat the UNDERLYING disease that gave you the Eurhytoid state in the first place. For me, would that be Adrenal Fatigue? So I should not take ANY thyroid meds now at all? I was VERY Hypothyroid from age 13 to 18, when I finally got the T4-med and got rid of 95% of the symptoms. For almost 10 years... Then boom, stress from May 2007, and A-Fib in January 2008, and HC in June 2009 and here I am, Today. Euthyroic. Are we onto something here? > > It is quite possible the stress caused adrneal fatigue and THAT causes > very high adrenaline which CAN cause A-fib at least temporarily. Guest guest
BWT, as for me starting T3-only... My Ferritin is not above 70 yet. And I am not sure I am taking enough HC yet. Well I am pretty sure I don't take enough yet. So... Do I really have to wait til my Ferritin is higher + HC is higher before starting T3-only? I want to start asap now. Kinda decided. Guest guest
Well I tolerate the 9 mcgs of T3 which is in my 1 grain of ERFA these days. I think. Isn't it BAD to raise slowly when on T3-only? I mean, I will get more and more Hypo when the T4 leaves my body over 4 (?) weeks from stopping it. HOWEVER, my Thyroid gland is pretty much in a normal state, won't that supply both T4 and T4 anyway when I'm on such a low dose of ERFA og T3-only? And let's say I really AM Euthyroid OR got rT3-dominance, and I got that rT3-dominance from something else than just stress, let's say it was a total of the HUGE trauma I suffered from in 2007, plus my chronically infected tonsils (since 2003 approx.) as well as a crooked frenulum (nose-wall) which is blocking for the air in my right nostril, causing clogging and infection way into my nose. Let's say that the tonsils are 50% of all my reasons for getting rT3-dominance. Won't it be useless to treat rT3 with T3-only then? OR if I really am Euthyroid, wouldn't the best thing be to just do the lazer sugery and fix my tonsils, and maybe I'll get 10% healthy after that? Ok, I have pressure on the left part of my chest/heart region now..
