Guest guest
TWIN NORMALLY ARE GENETIC IN FAMILIES UNLESS SOMEONE IS TAKING MAJOR HIGH DOSE FERTITLY DRUGS NOT JUST CLOMID! OR THE OLDER A PERSON IS THE MORE LIKELY THEY ARE TO ARE TO MORE THAN ONE BABY DUE TO IRREGULLAR DROPPING OF MULTIPLE EGGS DURING THEIR CYCLE, BUT JUST HAVING WLS DOESN'T GIVE YOU ANY BETTER CHANCES THAN ANYONE ELSE FOR THE TWIN LOTTERY! Guest guest
I don't recall anyone in this group that mentioned anything regarding twins or more. I can see the potential for issues with nutrition, unless the person is at least 18 months out from surgery. I'm not an expert of course, but I could just see health issues occurring with both mom and the babies. Guest guest
Actually, there's been at least *one* instance of post-WLS twins here on our group. They were healthy and normal, as far as I can remember. Mom's name was Debbie, if memory serves me correctly, and I *believe* it was about a year ago or so. -Kris

Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the info! Congrads on the pregnancy. The reason I was asking about this in the first place is because I have been trying to conceive for a year now and my gyno has suggested in- vitro. I don't want to go this route until at least 18 months after my WLS and see if losing weight will help my conception. Just in case though I would have in-vitro and have twins, I wanted to cover my bases! Guest guest
A woman who had my procedure (the mgb) just posted today on our support group that she is 6.5 months pregnant with twins. I replied telling her about this board (and you), so maybe she will come join. Congratulations and good luck to you! wls 9-14-00 dd born 2-8-02 > In a message dated 6/9/03 2:18:33 PM Eastern Daylight Time, klywood@m... > writes: > > > Actually, there's been at least *one* instance of post-WLS twins here on > > our > > group. I wanted to let you know that we conceived our daughter (now age 4) with fertility treatments prior to WLS (I have PCOS). After WLS my periods became VERY regular..you could create a calendar by them. The irony is that we were TTC w/o fertility help this time and I'll be darned if we didn't end up with TWINS... I think waiting til 18m post-op is a good idea...at least it was for us...no fertility intervention needed (can't promise you won't still have multiples though ;-) ) EDD 1/09/04 TWINS!
