What a blessing! Congratulations both on Austin's birth and the fact

that it doesn't seem to be clubfoot! I hope the visit to Baltimore

confirms the diagnosis. Congratulations again.. So happy for you!

Congratulations on the birth of your new baby! Welcome to the world, Austin! I

hope that the metatarsus adductus is confirmed -- much easier to deal with. Our

son (3 months old) has a club foot, but our daughter (now 3 years old) had

severe metatarsus adductus in both feet. Even if it is only that, I would

suggest that you have it treated early (if it is severe enough to need

treatment) rather than later... our daughter was diagnosed quite late, and it

has cost us a great deal of time and effort (and years of corrective shoes)

rather than having been very simple to correct, as it could have been. By the

time she saw a specialist for her feet (at over a year old) he told us that it

could have EASILY been corrected earlier, but that it was too late for that.

Her feet are fine (two years later now) but we are told that she will probably

always be somewhat in-toed. Best of luck to you! (Rita)

and Austin,

Our first daughter was born with metatarsus adductus in each foot. Her feet

were very turned in at birth, but she had regular looking feet, meaning, her

heals were all the way down and her feet looked completely normal, but she

did have some rather large creases in the insides of each foot and of course

both feet turned in towards eachother. (pigeon toed)

She recieved no treatments to either foot since both feet were able to be

pulled easily to the correct possition with no resistance. Her feet

straightened out pretty quickly in appearance after that but at 12 months

when she started walking we noticed she walked pigeon toed. We finally got a

referral from our pediatrician and they said most often nothing is done to

correct metatarsus unless the case was very severe which is not common. They

mentioned a pair of straight laced type shoes may have helped some but there

was no quarantee and by the time we took her to the specialist, it was

really too late for a trial. She is now 5 1/2 years old and her feet are

pretty much perfect! She does still have slight intoeing but nothing

noticeable. I think we notice it only in her ballet class because she is

learning to point her toes out in her ballet steps and it is somewhat harder

for her than the other girls.

Our second daughter was born with moderately severe bilateral clubfoot, so

we learned the differences between the two first hand. Our first daughter,

looking back now, was a piece of cake! I hope you hear good news on friday,

best of luck to you all!

, CONGRATULATIONS!! It's great to hear that Austin's feet are so

flexible. It sounds like it will be no problem to fix even if it is

clubfeet. I'm glad to hear that you are all doing well.
