hey Sher; I am 47 and I was 46 when I found the lump after a breast reduction. 'For a year they thought it was scar tissue and then it wasn't. I had a bi-lateral, chemo, rads. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi Sher and welcome. I found my lump myself. I had a mammogram, then the surgeon did a biopsy and it was cancerous. I then had a mastectomy, I had one node involved. I had 6 mo of chemo and no radiation. That was back in 1990 when I was 44.

Everything will depend on what they find. Breast Cancer goes from DCIS, which is the best, to Stage IV. Some ladies only need a lumpectomy and then radiation, some choose a mastectomy and have chemo and sometimes radiation also.

Hang in there and ask any questions you want. We are all here for you. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hugs

hello everyone. i'm sher, i just turned 48 and a few days later went to have a small fibro-thingy removed...turned out to be cancer but i don't know what kind or any details. i'm being hustled back into surgery in 3 days to check the surrounding tissue and nodes. this all came as such a weird surprise...i have 4 kids, 17, 14, 10, and 7, and i work full time as a speech therapist. when i get a report from the pathologist describing the cancer, what are my next steps? this is all new territory to me. thanks! sher

Hi Sher,

Sorry for your bad news...as far as next step is concerned, I think that will largely depend on path results. As soon as you get them, please let us know. Am thinking of you and sending prayers your way.
