Guest guest
Hi Sandy, They didn't do the PR/ER when I had my surgery back in 1990. Noone knows who chemo will work 100% or not work. I am thinking that they want you to take it so hopefully it will kill some cancer cells even if it doesn't respond and take care of all. You are in my prayers. I had my lumpectomy on July 1, 2005. My doctor said she got all the cancer and the three lymph she removed was clear. She got the results of my receptor and she told me I'm PR/ER negative, which means that in reality I probably won't respond well to treatment, so my question is this.....Why in the hell should I go through the 4 months of chemo with all the side effects when it isn't going to work anyway? It seems to me I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't (take chemo) Hugs Sandy DeVoe

Guest guest
You don't say if you are HER positive or not. I am ER /PR negative and HER positive but going the normal chemo route plus herceptin. For me (stage 2 no nodes, double mastectomy) anything that might lessen my chance of metastases means maybe I will be around when they find the cure. I read an interview article that current thinking on BC was more along the line of a chronic disease in that micromatastases can be shed from the time the tumor is growing.I am convinced as I read more that gene markers make us better or worse responders. We just do not know what they all are and who has what.. Just food for thought. Catlin

Guest guest
-Sandy, would you mind giving me your path report findings. I have a computer program My oncologist gave me called " Adjuvant " that when given certain things from path report can figure out the benefits for Chemo alone or chemo with hormone therapy. My oncologist did it with me and it showed that my tumor was 5cm, agressive, no lymph nodes, clear margins and I am 50 The program said I would benefit 2% more with chemo than with Hormone and radition only. Needles to say I skipped the chemo and have not been Seconding Guessing " MY " decision. Lets give your numbers a try and see what it says. Several articles have been wriiten lately about the non-existence of benefits from chemo for Postmenaposal women, 50+ years old, estrogen receptor positive and no nodes involved. It work extremely well for younger, premenaposal women Ju remeber its your decison just make sure you talk to your oncologist- and get good, clear and straight answers. Love to you Nancee- In breastcancer2 , " Sandy " <sandrad@c...> wrote: > I had my lumpectomy on July 1, 2005. My doctor said she got all the cancer > and the three lymph she removed was clear. Guest guest
I know the anger you feel, sometimes I wonder why I take the meds I take. The side effects aren't so great. Then I look at my three grandchildren on my computer and I remember that they are worth that one chance that it's all working. It's not easy dealing with everything that is for sure. I wish you all the good stuff. I pray for you all every day. God Bless, Ren
