It's great to hear from you -- especially with you being an adult treated

with the Ponseti method. I'm just curious if you have pain and/or problems

with your foot now as an adult after having to have two surgeries. My

husband has/had bilateral clubfeet and had numerous surgeries (he wasn't

treated with the Ponseti method). He doesn't complain, but I know his feet

bother him -- especially after spending the day walking at an amusement park

or things of that nature. My son has one club foot. He is two and was

treated by Dr. Ponseti since five months of age. He already had one

unsuccessful surgery for heel cord lengthening before we went to Iowa. Right

now, his foot is doing great, but it's a little stubborn, so I wonder what

might lie ahead for him and us down the road...

You live in Galesburg, Ill? My in-laws grew up in that area. I know my

father in law lived in Galesburg at one point in his teenage years. We still

have some family living in Aledo, IL. In fact, all is my husband's

grandparents lived there until they passed away. Anyway, it's a small world.

I'm willing to bet that some of your family knows some of my husband's

family. We live in Wisconsin now, but we always try to drop in down in Aledo

when we go to Iowa City.

Take Care. It's great to have an adult here that was treated by Dr. P -- he

is an awesome man!

The only problem I have with my foot is that my ankle doesn't really bend like

its suppose to , & that could be due to a couple of different things ... Didn't

actually do the excercises / stretches like they should have been - I have CMT

(charcot-marie-tooth , a form of muscular dystrophy) & a little arthritis in the

foot.....

I really don't want to scare or discourage anyone just because mine didn't work

out. Please remember that everyone is different & may have different

circumstances. I still believe Dr. Ponseti is a great guy!

We didn't find out until I was about 11 that I had CMT...originally I was dx.

with a different form of CMT (Dejerine-Sotas) at the age of 11, but at 25 I

found out I had a lesser form - known as CMT type 1 A. This I'm sure had alot to

do with the castings not working as well - I had nerve damage & didn't know it.

I have just found out a little more about my background from my mom - they took

me to a dr. here in Galesburg (who is no longer here by the way & hasn't been

for a long time) & he put my in a cast but I guess it wasn't done right and/or

the shoes that i was put in weren't right. (in other words made it worse).

farms...racers, etc. The Shriner's rodeo is this weekend. We usually go, but

my husband has to work it this time...no way I'm taking 5 children by

myself...lol

Hi Teri,

We're from Michigan (live in a small town about an hour outside of Detroit)

and was so pleased to see a post from one of Dr. Ponseti's past patients!

Don't worry, I think everyone here finds whatever information we can get our

hands on regarding clubfoot as beneficial.

My daughter was born with bilateral clubfoot in Feb. 2000. We did'nt start

traveling to see Dr. Ponseti until she was 5 months old.

We're in Roxbury, New Jersey

KC and , born 7/26, bilateral clubfeet

Re: where from

We're from Tulsa, OK but will be moving this weekend to Augusta, KS. I

really, really hope I can find a doctor who at least knows the Ponseti

method and can continue Cole's treatment. If not, I don't know what we're

going to do. Eeeek!!
