What exactly would be the benefit of these bracelets? I understand them for

diabetets or some problem like that ... but what's the benefit for a-fib

patients? Thanks.

I encourage all our members to make use of our Link Section. There

you will find quite a bit of useful information:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/AFIBsupport/links

If you click on the word " Merchandise " , you will find the Medical ID

bracelet.

BTW, personally I think it would be extremely interesting to know

who and how many of us wear such a bracelet.

Lets say you are in a car accident. The fact that you might be on

coumadin may be of interest. Also, the paramedic sees a reeaaallly

strange rhythm. Should he shock you? Maybe give you something to try to

stabilize it on the scene? Nah, he just read on your bracelet you have

atrial fibrillation. That could be helpful to know if the patient is

unconcious.

Just a few thoughts.

Just wanted to let you know I have been wearing a bracelet for a year

or so. I have written on mine that I use " Flecainide for Afib " and

then I give my doctor's name and phone number. Barbara

Hello all,

Because I travel alot at home and in Europe, my cardiologist

suggested to me to get medical ID, I looked on QVC, and got a medic-

alert pendant, which I preferred over the bracelet. The pendant is

a water tight very small compartment, with a paper inside with space

for name, address, medications, emergency contacts, etc. I

exchanged the chain for a 30' chain and it fits very nicely under my

clothing. I admit, I don't wear it all the time when at home, but I

do wear it when traveling. Just another idea, and it can't hurt.
