I want to say congratulations to you Brad,

I had to laugh out loud when I read your note where you said; " I

can't help jumping up and down and running in place whenever people

ask how my hip is doing. " WHY IS THAT?? When anyone asks me how my

hip is they get a little 'routine' of jumping, running in place

complete with high kicks....then I say to myself later.... " Why did I

do that? " I could have just said; " Great, the hip is fine, thank

you. " Somehow that just never seems like EOUNGH does it??? We are

SOOOO LUCKY!!! Keep on jumping and running, and may the force be with

you!

> To those wondering about sleeping on your side. I did the pillow

between the legs trick and rolled onto my good side the 1st night

after surgery ( I have a very hard time sleeping on my back). I also

began sleeping for a few hours on my operated side on the 4th night

after surgery ( I never had much incision pain after surgery for some

reason). At 5 months post operation, I'm playing pickup basketball

and making moves I haven't been able to do in 8 years. Dr. De Smet is

a miracle worker in my view and I've been virtually pain free for

months. As a home builder I am up and down ladders, bending and

lifting, and I don't even think of my hip most days and when I do it

is to marvel and be grateful. We had a wonderful time in the

Netherlands and Belgium, both before and after surgery. ( I did make

the mistake of climbing to the top of the old castle in Gent on the

5th day post op and paying a painful price the next few days. I don't

recommend that.) People are amazed at my recovery and I can't help

jumping up and down and running in place whenever people ask how my

hip is doing. Thank God for hip resurfacing. Brad Swenson RBHR De
