Hi Deandra,

I am sorry for your miscarriage. I had surgery in September of 2001. I am

severely anemic as a result of surgery as well. I understand it is common in

menstruating post-ops. Also, it is hard to get your iron back to normal since

the part of our intestines which normally absorbs iron has been bypassed. I have

been taking Vitron C (over the counter) because it is one of the few which we

can absorb. It has helped somewhat, (my hemoglobin is up to 8.9 from 7) BUT I

still have severe iron deficiency in my blood. My OB told me to not even dream

of getting pregnant at this level, so I have opted for an iron infusion. This is

where they hook you up to an IV and give you iron straight into your

bloodstream. My endo thinks it will do the trick and then be able to maintain it

with Vitron C.

I strongly advise you to get a complete bloodwork for any deficiencies (B12,

Folic Acid, Iron, protein etc..) done to get the green light on trying again.

Good luck to you.

Questions?????

Okay. First let let me refresh my story.. I am 27 and I had surgery

in june of 2001. I just had a misscarriage in july of this year. I

was devestated and upset with questions. I found that being a year

out after surgery shouldnt have any effect on the pregnany, so i was

told. I still find that to be kinda general cause when I went to the

surgeron after the misscarriage she did lab work and w rays and

stuff. she told me i was severely anemic and of course I need to take

my vitamins and supplements. I wasnt taking them at the time. But i

take them faithfully now.. But my question is does the body go back

to normal after a misscarriage? I just started my first cycle since

then and so far no ovulation no nothing!! I am scared that I wont be

able to get pregnant again. THey said to wait 3 months and I didnt

want to but it looks like I may not have a choice.

Please any input would help me, THanks in advance.

Deandra,

What cycle day are you on? When you m/c your hcg levels have to come

back down to where you can ovulate. The amount of time that takes varies. I

have had 2 m/c's. The first time, it took almost 7 weeks to ovulate while

the second took 5 weeks. I was 9 weeks pg the first time and six weeks the

second time.

How are you tracking ovulation? If I can help in any way, please don't

hesitate to ask!

Hugs,

Edd 3/25/03

michelle,

I am using the clearplan easy fertility monitor and so far nothing.

I Just had my misscarriage in july so this is my first cycle since

then my doc said my hcg levels were going down fast and my

progesterone was really low they think that is why i m/c i am just

waiting to ovulate again so we can try again. i called my doc and

they said they would do a 23 day progesterone chk and to continue

with the monitor. if no ovulation occurs they want me to wait t

cycles before they try anything... i just hope everything is okay for

and i can get pregnant again...

THanks michelle for responding :)

I need some info and figure this is the best place to get some.Hubby

has been having GMCSF(generic for neupogen, etc...)shots to raise his

white blood count so he can continue the chemo with avastin.Had his

5th(and last in series)shot this am.Anyway, about the same time he

started the shots he developed severe pains in his lower back.He says

it comes and goes like a spasm but is excruciating even with pain

meds that have been working very well until this.Because of his

spinal cord deficits he normally cannot feel muscle or surface pain

so I'm thinking this has to be tumor or organ related. We've not been

aware of any bone mets but his hematology has been so irratic the

past few weeks,I've been wondering....He thinks it's caused by the

shots because that's when it started but I can't find anything in the

side effects about causing pain and it doesn't make sense to me. I

know some of you on the board have personal experience with this drug

to increase the WBC and I would really appreciate any info you can

share. Also, info on bone mets would be appreciated, just in case.

His next appointment with the onc is 4/22 so I'm trying to gather

info prior.

Thanks!!!!

(caregiver to Hubby,dx inoperable stage IV cc 7/03,currently on third

chemo regime)

Hello ,

My Mom was getting weekly shots of Neulasta to boost her WBC while on

Folfox4. She would get back and leg pains about 4-5 days after

getting the Neulasta. Her doctor told her this was one of the major

side effects and to take Advil to help the pain. She did and the

pain usually went away in a day or 2. I'm not positive this is the

same kind of medicine your husbands getting but everything I've read

regarding Neulasta mentions bone pain as a common side effect.

Hope this helps.

- I also experienced bone pain after Neupagin due to the

stimulation of bone marrow. For me it was mostly my femurs and ribs,

but you have bone marrow in your spine also. For me the pain lasted

only one day, and was tolerable, but I have heard some people require

stronger pain medication.

Thanks Kat, the one he's actually on is called Leukine(brand name)of

sargramostin, and it doesn't list bone pain but I think most of these

drugs are pretty similar so it would make sense. Thanks!
