Guest guest
Hi , Well as usual Mikell has already given you the most helpful facts and tips. I can share my story though. I always knew 'something' was wrong with me as I never started a period on my own. Thankfully I always would respond to a progesterone challenge or bcp's and so we knew that the right parts were there, we just didn't know why they didn't talk to each other very well. We weren't too concerned until DH and I ttc and were unable to. Doc ordered several tests including HSG and I was dx with a tshaped uterus, small uterus, one disconnected tube and PCOS. My DH would be proud to tell you that 'his boys can swim' (i.e. he has perfect sperm - what a guy . I was born in 1973 and my mom supposedly was not given DES or any other synthetics so I believe that my abnormalities are not due to DES exposure either. Since my official dx in 2000, we decided to do one round of injectable hormones and an IUI in fall of 2001 which was unsuccessful. We were advised we should really do 3-5 rounds of these and then would need to move onto IVF. But after the first round we just did not feel comfortable pursuing things further and we pursued adoption instead (we always wanted to/planned to adopt regardless). We adopted a newborn boy in April 2002 and a newborn girl in October 2003. Then, we got PG totally on our own, out of the blue in November 2003. I'm 33 weeks pregnant with a little boy and the pregnancy has been mostly uneventful. Aside from monitoring for incompetent cervix and preterm labor, we have not had to take any 'extra' steps. I did have placenta previa for a while (where the placenta covers the cervix) and there may be a higher incidence of placenta previa that does not resolve in women with tshaped uterus (esp if you also have fibroids as I do) but thankfully mine resolved. Best wishes to you and please let me know if you have more ???'s. Warmly, Connilee > Hi! I am new to the group and have been TTC for almost 2 years > now.
