Guest guest
Hi ! So glad to hear you got a definitive dx finally. I'm glad you found a doctor who knows what he's doing--isn't it a great feeling, after all you've been through? I do have a question about the possible resection, however. I was always under the impression that a UD is NEVER resected, because it is, in fact, two completely separate uteri, not one uteri with a septum or anything like that. I don't mean to second-guess your doctor, because heaven knows he probably knows a lot more about it than I do. But maybe some other ladies on here can clear up my confusion. Are UD's commonly resected? Could it be possible that you're really not UD, you're actually SU? Especially along with the fact that you only have one cervix, one vagina, and no vaginal septum, it just seems a little bit " off " to me. I'm sure it could definitely happen, I'm just curious, because I was never given an option of resection once my UD was dx'd. Plus, when I was first examined, my doctor told me that I was probably SU and only after a couple of U/S and MRIs, determined that I am UD. Also, when you say you had an " internal, " do you mean just a pelvic examination? Hopefully, the HSG will clear everything up completely, since that is a much better test than just a physical examination. That said, I'm certainly not an expert and am only just learning about these things myself. I don't mean to worry you or second-guess you or or doctor. I just know how it feels to be misdiagnosed and want to make sure you're getting the most accurate picture of what's really going on. Maybe some of the other UD'ers or resident experts on here can chime in...? Jenessa UD, 27, and TTC#1 (2nd Cycle)
Guest guest
Dear Is your condition similar at all to mine. I have a unicornuate uetrus which has 1/2 a normal sized uterus and a rudiemntary horn which is non communicating. Do you have 2 parts to your uterus. I am worried about getting pregnant in the horn and it resulting in an ectopic. Look fwd to hearing from you. Janine
Guest guest
, I just wanted to chime in about the resection possibility you mentioned. I too am one of those " rare " UD cases with only one cervix and one vagina. However, my doctor told me that there is really nothing you can do surgically to people with UD. She said that doing that would mean they would have to cut through the actual uterine walls and by doing that would make things even worse and cause your uterus to be weak. I know that many of the other ladies here have already told you about this, but I thought that since I have the same diagnosis as you that I would let you know what my doctor said. Good Luck! Guest guest
> I was wondering the md told me the hsg test would show her the inside of the uterus, how does one know the shape of the outside? Can you just have a reg u/s show that? I guess that is how they determined that mine was a bu. I was also wondering how did you feel after the hsg test? thanks , jenn My RE could tell the outside shape of my uterus by my CT scans, but most women don't have that test (I had it to check out my kidneys). The HSG can definitley not tell you the outer shape of your uterus. You would have to have a really good RE, I think, in order to tell just from a regular u/s. Some women say an MRI is good enough, but the best way is a laparascopy to know the outer shape. An HSG is really painful for the five minutes they have the tube in their shooting the dye, but afterwards it is like nothing happened. Maybe some slight cramps, but Ibuprofren helps. It is also good to take Ibuprofren an hour before the actual test. , 25, SU resected
