Guest guest
Hello ladies~ I just had my follow up with my RE after having all the infertility tests dones. My HSG shows a Y shaped uterus with a moderate septum. We have been TTC for one year with one miscarriage at 7.5 weeks. The RE said that since I have only had one m/c and we don't know if it was a genetic problem with the baby or a physical problem with me, he didn't want to rush in to surgery. Instead he has suggested an " old school " remedy using progesterone to help enrich my lining and hopefully cause the septum to shrink back. Has anyone else ever heard of using progesterone to shrink the septum. I have numerous fertility issues so he is going to start me on injectibles and progesterone for a couple of months to see what happens and then move on to surgery if necessary. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!
Guest guest
Progesterone has no proven value in any way except with women who under go IVF, IUI or any other artificial insemination. My RE calls it Voodoo because there is no proof it does anything. She said I could go on it if I wanted but after reading research I saw no value. I too had a partial septum that was resected only afte 3 m/c's in a row. My first m/c was chromosomal but my other two were too early to tell. Septums are the MA that have the highest early m/c rate. It has been discussed on this board and there is research to show that women with septums may m/c so early that women never know that they are preg and therefore think that they have fertility problems. Most research does not distinguish btw a partial or complete septum in the m/c rates. Plus there are chances of PTL. I hope this info helps. There is no reason for you to suffer another m/c. - Liz Liz > >Reply-To: MullerianAnomalies >To: MullerianAnomalies >Subject: Y shaped uterus >Date: Thu, 10 Jun 2004 20:13:20 -0000 > _________________________________________________________________ Stop worrying about overloading your inbox - get MSN Hotmail Extra Storage! http://join.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200362ave/direct/01/
