Guest guest
I think I understand this TSH thing now. I've always thought that if was suppressed it was fine and normal, but if it's suppressed and T3 levels are not at the high range, but still low/ low normal, than something is keeping the body from using the thyroid like ferritin and cortisol. I just had labs done but the doctor didn't care to see the TSH. Maybe I should keep looking at that in comparison with the T3 levels as you say. And he wants me weaning down on the HC so I'm down to 15 for now from 20. Quite frankly, I wonder if I should have been at 25-30 of the HC, but I've been on it now 10 months and I was looking to get off myself and see what transpires. I feel okay, at times, better, and I don't feel I have any low cortisol symptoms, but my temps still jump and don't stay steady that much. I learn so much from you. Thank you. > > TSH: 0.01 > > > TOTAL T4: 3.9 (4.5-12.5) > > > FREE T4: 0.7 (0.8-1.8) > > > TOTAL T3: 91 (97-219) > > > FREE T3: 221 (230-420) > > > RT3: 23 (11-32) > > Yes taking thyroi meds WILL supress TSH BUT your levels ewven WITH the meds are NOT high enough to supress it to this point. When you get FT3 to 420 I woudl expect to see TSH where it is now. Thsi si telling me either your pit is not functioning correctly ( unlikely) or your body is nto able to tolerate thee thyroid (VERY likely) Usually this si from lwo cortisol or low ferritin. > > -- > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ >
Guest guest
You can always wean off the HC and retest levels once oyu have been off it a while. This confirms the need ot either go back on it at higher dose or that oyu have healed or at least improved adrneal status. Just that you are abel to wean down wihtout symptoms says alot! -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
Val, How did you figure Colleen's RT3 ratio? I came up with 9.6-much worse than what you had said. Subject: Re: Thyroid Resistance? To: RT3_T3 Date: Monday, November 9, 2009, 7:10 AM Hi val:You wrote this:Whatconcerns me here is youre lwo TSH. That is a sign that your body is not able toUSE thyroi dcorrectly.I thought that having a suppressed TSH was normal when taking thyroid. M ine was this level too before going on Cytomel and now that i've increased the cytomel who knows what the level is?WHy is that a concern? I've read and heard many people say the TSH doesn't amtter at all.> >> > TSH: 0.01> > TOTAL T4: 3.9 (4.5-12.5)> > FREE T4: 0.7 (0.8-1.8)> > TOTAL T3: 91 (97-219)> > FREE T3: 221 (230-420)> > RT3: 23 (11-32)> > > > Yes even wiht low thyroid levels you have an RT3 problem. Your ratio is 17.6 and needs ot be 20 or higher so it is not horrible btu not good either. What concerns me here is youre lwo TSH. That is a sign that your body is not able to USE thyroi dcorrectly. Either from weak adrnels or lwo ferritin as the most common causes. I woudl certainyl test them before trying to correct the RT3 issue and raise thyroi dlevels. > > > > -- > > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV> > > > http://www.stopthet hyroidmadness. com/> > http://health. groups.yahoo. com/group/ NaturalThyroidHo rmonesADRENALS/> > http://health. groups.yahoo. com/group/ RT3_T3/> > http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/HypoPets/> >>

Guest guest
So my ratio for RT3 to FREE T3 is 9.6- pretty low-- makes sense- MINUS my super low TSH. Val: In your opinion - is Iodoral then a stupid idea? Will it jack my T4 to high? I was feeling great on lower amounts - now tried to raise it- very fatigues, cold and foggy.... hmmmm... I am weary of getting back on Cortef - but can if need be. Thanks so much for your help!!! Cant beleive I have wasted so much time and ummmm my life--- spinning my wheels being fat and depressed. I figured after awhile it had little to do with reading every new diet book- I needed people like Durant-Peatfied, and Dr Lowe.... > > I am not sure what happeened I htin I was posting to someone else oin > the same thread with differnt labs.Or I made a mistake in my calculator. > > -- > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ >
Guest guest
I would not confound the issue with iodine. JUst do the T3 and clear the RT3 out then see if oyu still feel liek oyu need it. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
Hi Val: I suppose I can always do small cortef doses and see - especially if things do not get better. Guest guest
Sorry- I am probably answering you out of order.... OK- so you think Iodine should be " tabled " .
