Guest guest
Hi all ~ Well, we just returned from FL yesterday. We had a great time. Nothing was ever mentioned about the FAB, but we put it in Sam's suitcase that was checked on the return flight and I could tell that it had been looked over. It must have set off a metal detector now that they are scanning checked luggage. The tongues were out of the shoes and half of one of the plastizode inserts was off -- and I 'know' it wasn't like that when I packed them. Oh well, it was nothing a little superglue wouldn't fix. We took Sam to Disney. We went to the Disney MGM Studios one day and they Magic Kingdom the next. We were really worried that taking him at such a young age was going to be an error in judgment. Well, he did PERFECTLY. He had such a great time and you could just tell that he took everything in. He LOVES rides. His favorite ones were the carousel and Dumbo but the most favorite was the tram ride from the parking lot to the ticket center. He was heart broken every time we had to get off. We took him to the Playhouse Disney show at the MGM studios and he danced with Bear (of the big Blue House) and bounced with Tigger. He had such an enjoyable time. It almost brought tears to my eyes to see him so happy. Okay, now for my question. I've been noticing lately that Sam has been walking on his tip toes. Now, I walked on my tip toes for a long time as a kid. In fact, I didn't really notice Sam doing it as much until my dad noted that Sam " walks like I used to. " Is walking on tip toes a bad thing? He doesn't do it all the time, but I am seeing it more and more. Is it just something that is developmental for a 22 month old and totally unrelated to clubfoot? It's something that he does with both feet -- not just his left (clubfoot) one. I'm just curious. I would hate to ignore it and have it be a sign of a bad thing. One more thing. There is a wonderful stride rite outlet close to Disney. We ended up getting three pair of shoes all at half off the regular store prices. (one pair for $30 and two for $25). What blows my mind is that this past December we bought him a new pair of Stride Rites in size five and all the shoes that we bought last week were size SIX!!! He has a bit of room to grow in these, but the five's were definitely too small. He's taken quite a growth spurt lately. I know he's grown about two inches since him 18 month checkup. It's hard to believe that last April when we bought him first pair of shoes he was only in a size 3!! And to think that there was a time that it seemed that his feet would never grow! Thanks for reading if you got this far. Take Care all!! In Him, Suzanne and Sam 4-19-00 (left clubfoot)
Guest guest
Suzanne, Just wanted to say thanks for the nice story about your trip.. I can just see Sam delighting in the sights.. (Interesting that his brace caught enough attention at the airport that someone would peel the plastizode out..) I can't help with your tiptoe walking question.. but it sure wouldn't hurt to ask about it.. His feet certainly are growing! He's got beat.. she's a 5 1/2. So good to hear from you.. and (19 months)

Guest guest
, Sam has beat but it looks like has beat with shoe size..........she's only a size 5 at 2 years old! And here I thought she was getting such big feet now. Are both of 's feet the same size or is her clubfoot a bit smaller? Guest guest
Holly and , Rose is in a 6.5 at three! She has little feet compared to many of the kids her age (that she knows anyway) except her non-clubfoot cousin. Now, Iris at a year is in 4's already! Guest guest
Suzanne, I could just picture Sam having a blast on the rides!! What a wonderful time that must have been. As for the tip toes, I'm not sure. I've heard of kids doing it, but I'm not sure what it signifies. Hope you get some ideas or answers. Please keep us updated!
