Guest guest Posted March 11, 2004 Report Share Posted March 11, 2004 Hildreth, Infections will definitely show up as a dark spot on a PET. 's area of infection showed a very dark uptake on the PET's. Each time he has a PET the uptake is different in the rectal area. After his colostomy and all the antibiotic the area shows a dramatic difference. It is beginning to look as if we wont ever get this spot well. Please don't put off your colonoscopy because just had his a 9mm polyp was found. Biopsy returned non malignant. It had only been 2 yrs since his last colonoscopy. Best Wishes, Joyce > I went to the oncologist for the first time this morning. Have dreaded this appointment but now feel so relived. I thought they were the best to have. I have posted before with my problems of infections since surgery and that is probably what the Pet picked up. He examined me and looked at all my records and previous films. My CEA keeps going down. Last was 6.8 but I am a smoker. Nothing has shown up in the many cat scans and MRI's that I have had. It always seems we lose someone and someone else has good news. Life's cycyles are like that . Sometimes we learn and from what we learn we can help many others.
