I enjoy being able to have text to look at so I can print what people say if I like, but I also like talking to folks and cooking almost any kind of barbeque/BBQ/grilled stuff, so maybe a pot luck/campout thing would work? Just make sure nobody brings a supermagnet! I'd love to get together, but even if some of us couldn't make it to whatever location is chosen, we could all be there via the site, couldn't we? It seems like there is a pretty large contingent in that Mid-Atlantic area. Perhaps Sinai Hosp could buy our desserts? Other regions that seem to be pockets of resurfers are California, and Wisc/Chicago/Michigan. It seems that regional " chapters " of the " Surfacehippy club of the Whole D#%n World " might be an idea. ;-) You folks are right. We are so spread out that it would be difficult and expensive to try to make it happen in one place. I'd love to try to organize some kind of meet in the Atlanta area or the mountains just north. Not only because I live here, but it is a hub and fairly convenient for those of us who live in the SE. As I begin to think about it, I realize that it's not likely that we can rent a ballroom at the Plaza! Nor am I sure that's in the proper spirit. I like Clay's idea of a camp out. We seem to tend to be outdoor kind of folks. It's inexpensive, flexible, a lot of fun, we can all bring our own " kitchens " and have a grand potluck. It could take place over a period of time, say a long weekend, so people could come and go as they can or please. I think the idea of folks getting together all over and then posting photos and lurid accounts of the results is great too. ;-} I would be happy to try and coordinate an effort to make it happen my neighborhood. Of course I'm an impatient fellow and wish it could happen tomorrow, but if it's going to be a campout we need to consider weather to some extent and the holidays are coming up with their conflicts of time commitments. I would also love some local help! In order to save the hippy public at large from having to " weed out " posts about a particular meeting, please e-mail me directly or I'll set up another minigroup here on yahoo.
