Guest guest
Hello, I found cans of diet soda in various flavors containing SPLENDA (and NO aspartame) at Trader Joe's. The soda is called Hansens, and each can is .37 each at Trader Joe's. Trader Joe's is a wonderful chain of supermarkets, but they are not in all states yet. If anyone is interested in locating Hansen's soda in their community, I will purchase a can of it next time I go to Trader Joe's. Then I can post the relevant information here. Guest guest
Sheila, I was told not to drink carbonated beverages after my gastric bypass. However, I have probably had four or five cans of Hansen's soda throughout this pregnancy because I have been craving sweets. Oh well, Shoshannah K r ny 3/6/01 edd 6/25/03 baby girl mom to A.J. 7 1/
Guest guest
As far as I know, all the flavors of Diet Rite soda have Splenda and no caffeine. I buy it at WalMart and at the grocery stores here, so I think it's probably widely available. My kids even love it, and I'm glad they do because it's just that much less sugary stuff they're consuming. -Kris

Guest guest
I was told by my surgeon not to have any carbonation or caffeine (although I do drink iced tea, about once a day). It sounds like others haven't had any trouble with soda though? I used to drink 6 or more diet mountain dews per day so since I kicked the habit, and the surgeon said no, I haven't had any pop/soda. Also, does anyone have any experience with their husbands/significant other having vasectomy reversals? We have been trying for almost 4 months to no avail and prior to WLS, I got pregnant just thinking about it. Thanks for the input. Carmen open RNY 1/02 341/177/? Guest guest
Oh I'm a big soda drinker! I feel like I don't function properly if I don't have at least one 24oz bottle of Diet Pepsi a day. Very sad I know. I have tried drinking tea over the last week, and it's just not the same. I do have to say that a soda of any sort never passed my lips until I was a good 8 months out though. Guest guest
I've been drinking diet soda since I was about a year out. Originally I put it in the blender to rid it of carbonation, now I just make sure its over ice and I use a straw and blow most of the carbonation out. With the pregnancy, soda water really helps my tummy when its upset. Its just that the diet ones that are safe to drink are so few and far between. I really wanted ginger-ale and thanks to Shoshannah, I now have some Hansen's diet ginger-ale from Trader joes and boy does my tummy feel better!!! We just sold our condo and are buying a house and I've been so stressed out with all that and work that my tummy is always upset it seems, so anything and everything I can do to help, I really try to find things! Guest guest
99% of the time my soda HAS to be with ice too. TONS of ice. My husband jokes that I get more water/ice then actual soda. But, I HAVE to have my drinks cold cold cold!!! Guest guest
My surgeon (Dr Alan Wittgrove) has no problem w/ diet sodas 6 mo or longer post-op. He would prefer you abstain from it because as he feels that soda consumption and grazing/junk food go hand in hand. I've never let the carbonation go down... what's the point in my book drinking a flat diet soda? Carbonation will not stretch the pouch and it's been well documented by Wittgrove and . That myth came from several surgeons in hopes it would prevent their patients from consuming carbonated drinks. ~ BabyCopia ~ Unique and Original Baby Products www.babycopia.com Re: Re: diet soda w/splenda I have been so diligent about not letting carbonation pass my lips at all...First off, I am not a big soda drinker or sweets eater pre surgery... I always did tea and water before...and usually decaf if I could find it....I have an allergy and severe withdrawls to caffine....so I always limited that anyway.... I just learned last week if you blenderize soda it take the carbonation out...so I went and bought a diet Dr Pepper but its still sitting next to my blender..I am trying to keep that for these very hot Phoenix summers as a treat.... But I am truely surprised at how many people were commenting on soda's so I had to ask.... Thank you all for your honest answers... Sheila F.
