Hi all,

I had such a great appointment with my new endo today, that I almost

feel guilty talking about it. I owe so much to the information I

gleaned from so many of you over the past few months. I also got very

lucky. Most of all, I am extremely glad that I had the guts to cancel

the RAI that my previous endo had scheduled for me 3 months ago!

My current labs are:

FT3 1.12 (.90-1.70)

T4 204.3 (80-200)

TSH = .02 (.27-4.2) [note: =.02, not <.02 - more on this later]

TSI antibody 1.6 (<1.3=neg; 1.4-1.8=indeterminate; >1.9=positive)

Since I have been showing no major symptoms for 4 months and my labs

are so close to normal (except TSH, which he agrees doesn't matter

that much at this point), the new endo is recommending no action

except lab tests and check-ups every 90 days. Yes, no RAI!! Not even

ATD's - which have twice caused wierd side effects! Also, he gave me

an emergency prescription for lab tests, if something goes 'haywire'.

He spent an hour and fifteen minutes with me; both listened and

spoke well; took a copy of my checklist (the one I posted a week or so

ago); took info. on Elaine's book; took info. on the Thytropin I've

been experimenting with; and welcomed me as a new patient! I was

blown away, because he primarily does research and he takes very few

new patients - this was supposed to be a 1 shot second opinion and

possible referral to a more supportive endo than my first one. He was

impressed by my knowledge (thank you all again) and wants to work with

me going forward.

To think that in March I hit my head skiing; got double vision 2 weeks

later; tested negative for all sorts of brain damage and neurological

stuff; tested positive for thyroid; had my eyes clear up after 4

Cranial Sacral treatments and then wound up with an endo, who wanted

to destroy my thyroid!! I came very close to going through with this

- until I discovered Elaine's book and, through it, this group!!

I do have Graves, but subclinically only - background symptoms of hand

tremors, soft stools, night fatigue, burning eyes, etc. But, I've had

all this stuff mildly for years! Basically, I feel normal; yet I know

that I have a condition that could get worse; and it's so comforting

to have someone capable to fall back upon along with the info. from

and support of this group.

To anyone new (who am I to talk?) - I urge you to pay attention to

these posts. There's wisdom in even the saddest of stories; and

there's bravery throughout. To all - be strong. I'll continue to be

here. But not next week - my wife, 2 children and I are going to the

outer banks of North Carolina with some relatives for a week. What I

need now is some good R & R. (The timing is a coincidence; we planned

this vacation last winter.)

P.S. These are my first labs since I started taking the Thytropin

(bovine thyroid extract processed to remove the Thyroxine and which

supposedly has antigenic properties to neutralize the antibodies).

Since my last test, FT4 has gone from 1.18 to 1.12; T3 from 209 to

204; and possibly best of all TSH from immeasurable (less than .02) to

..02!! I've been taking nothing else for the past 2 months, so while

it has possibly helped me, these improvements are relatively small and

probably inconclusive. But, if you want to know more, Thytropin is

available only through professionals like Naturopaths or Osteopaths,

who carry the products of Standard Process of Palmyra, WI. I finished

the bottle anyway; so I'm done with this for now. I'll probably try

Bugleweed, Motherswort, Lemonbalm tinctures next to try to help keep

my levels within range. I wish you all well...

Melvin
