Diet Soda

There are diet soda's that have no sodium in them at all. Diet Rite soda is one

that has none. It cannot add to water retention because it has no sodium in it

to cause that.

I think Diet Rite is the only soda that has no sodium. It's awfully

hard to find around here.

Rain, I too drink diet soda not to lose weight but for the taste.  I think it is more for the carbonation.  I seem to crave it especially when water doesn't see to fit the bill. I have gone off it amny times and come back to it.  One little drink of it can trigger the desire and then I am hooked.  I believe it also creates or increases the craving for something sweet.  I find it is more so if I use the caffeinated, but usually stick to decaf. And when I drink it I drink much less water. Sandy

Hello, I'm a really big advocate of OA and think it's a great program. And as long as a person sticks to the tool of abstinence as defined by the individual, it's absolutely compatible!  People were following Geneen Roth in OA in the 90's when I was there - a few people anyway. I'm thinking about going back to OA for the group support and the support of an individual sponsor.

I also like diet soda, I get the non-caffeinated cola at home, and sometimes I have regular diet coke outside if there is no caffeine-free cola available. I like the taste also of diet sodas, in general. I also have seltzer at home, which I like a lot, too. The phosphates in soda are not supposed to be good for you, but that hasn't stopped me. Kate finding that works for you as well as is appreciated by your body is pretty

much what IE is all about. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my 'sweet

tooth' stopped running my life once I started 'gaining' IE :-)

Just my 2 cents, I know some people (including my daughter) find it addictive, but I never did. That said, there is recent research that people who drink a lot of diet soda have larger waist measurements, and I thought there might be something to that, so I have gone from about 6 a day to none, and although I don't know what it will do or will not do for my measurements, I feel measurably better. I hope thats not too confusing! Just, I quit the stuff entirely and I feel much better than when I was drinking it! Judy
