As for the BBT, take every day before moving out of bed.

I took clomid, email me directly if you have any questions.

,

Go to the bookstore and get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility.

It help me get pregnant with my daughter when I was 300lbs. It shows you

how to check your cervix, keep temp charts, and alot of other things.

Good Luck

Have you read " Taking Charge of Your Fertility " ? It's an awesome book and

can really help you know what your ovulation status is. It might be worth a

try before Clomid, although I've heard Clomid's not too bad!

Hi All,

Just wanted to introduce myself.

My name is , I am 33yo, have a 5yr daughter (it took me many

years to conceive her), and had gastric bypass surgery 4/19/01, I am

down 125lbs. I have been trying now for a few months with no luck.

I had a period every other week in February, March & some of April.

Nothing in May, and now today I got my period. I was very regular

before my surgery, so I have no clue what is going on here. I am

scheduled for the ob-gyn in 2 weeks, we are going to discuss a d & c

(which could help improve my odds of becoming pregnant), or starting

Clomid.

I am going to start the tempature thing also now.

Any helpful hints with the BBT? Do I start taking my tempature while

I have my period?

Anyone here take Clomid after gastric bypass surgery?

Thanks for any info

yes you take your BBT every single day before rising out of bed whether you

are on your period or not. The BBT will at least tell you whether or not you

are ovulating. another good tool is the clear plan easy fertility monitor,

but I think it only helps if your cycles are more regular.

Hello,

I thought I would chime in and also say that I have TCOYF (Taking charge of your

fertility) its a great resource. I also bought a BBT thermometer from

drugstore.com and with it came 30 day free trial of their program. ITs

excellant! I find it a little off on ovulation for the most part because my

letual phase is quit longer than normal but It helps me keep track. I also opted

not to do temps while AF is here.

I am a year post op and plan on ttc sometime later this year. We are currently

in our Practice ttc meaning we are trying selective sex method for our last

child. We are trying for a boy but would be blessed with either or.

Good luck to everyone!

Amy,

Welcome and Congrats! It definitely seems like the sugar thing is a

problem with many of us. Try to get it under control now! I got

pregnant at 11 months out and have done fine with the weight gain.

In the begining with morning sickness I lost 12 pounds. I have since

gained that back and now 5 pounds of pregnancy weight. I am 25 weeks

and doing great with my blood sugars and still battling the sugar

cravings daily.

Welcome and Congrat. I just wanted to let you know that wanting to have a

Good Luck. Sounds like you are doing all the right things.

Welcome Amy! Don't worry about losing your baby because of this surgery. One

has nothing to do with the other. So relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Of course

if your first trimester was like mine, you will be begging God to hurry up time

so you can get the second trimester. Morning sickness is a major drag!

Your vitamin intake sounds great. I'm happy to see you are taking folic acid.

My hubby read on the net that women that take folic acid before and during their

pregnancies lower their risk of birth defects by a whopping 70%!!!!

What I do to avoid the sugar cravings is not keep it in the house. I have

watermelon in the house. That satisfies my sugar cravings. When I run out, I

have this cereal called Corn Bran that is high fiber and very low sugar but for

some reason it also satisfies my sugar cravings.

Good luck!!

Hi all-

I wanted to introduce myself. I had a duodenal switch on July 6,

2001. I am down 140 lbs to about 187. I am now just 6 weeks

pregnant. This is our second, my daughter was born in March 2000

and she was actually much of the motivation for me to have wls.

Anyhow, seems like since I got pregnant I have been on one big giant

sugar binge. I feel totally out of control with the sugar. Every

day I say- No sugar! and end up eating cookies, cake, etc.. Is it

That is a worry that even people who never had WLS have. I had heard you were

pretty safe after 12 weeks. So breathed a sigh of relief. Well then one of my

friends told me, no it is 16 weeks. So I prayed my way through the next 4 weeks

and then thanked God I made it. Well at church Sunday, our pastor asked us to

pray for a couple in our church who was expecting because their baby died on her

due date. They don't know why. My first instinct was to be scared all over

again. But I'm just going to pray that God gives us another healthy baby.

There are pregnancy heartbreak stories everywhere but for everyone of those

there are hundreds more happy and successful stories to tell and the stress

isn't good for any of us whether we are pregnant or trying to conceive. So

relax and enjoy your pregnancy and if you are trying to conceive pray for

patience because that it was it takes!

Thanks Nette-

This is exactly what I did this morning, gathered up all the sweets

and treats and put them in a bag for DH to take to work with him.

I am really trying to get on top of my eating but I just feel that

wild hormonal hunger. I have been craving watermelong like crazy. I

don't know if I could have one in the house because I would sit and

eat the entire thing!

I'll have to see if I can find a cereal like that- maybe that would

help me. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have watermelon in the house. That satisfies my sugar cravings.

When I run out, I have this cereal called Corn Bran that is high

fiber and very low sugar but for some reason it also satisfies my

sugar cravings.

Watermelon is actually pretty good for you... mostly water...

vitamins... it's probably better than eating cereal. They're both carbs,

but the cereal's denser than the watermelon. I say, if you're craving

watermelon, then by all means eat it. You could do worse... what if you

were craving Snickers? Yikes!! hehe
