Hi Laurie,

It was a long and interesting day. I'm scheduled for a pre-operative CAT scan to R/O any functional anomalies on July 10th. Depending on the results (they are looking for gallstones and bezoars primarily) I will then have a naso-jejunum tube placed for a week to see if I can tolerate the feeds and meds and to make sure the small bowel dysmotility isn't so severe as to preclude placement of the J-tube. If all goes well with the week trial than plans will be made to do a surgical placement of the J-tube (probably the first part of August). There is still some discussion about also doing a G-tube for venting purposes...so much went on today I'm not sure where that one got left.

This kind of sounds like getting the mito diagnosis - scary and yet hope of

feeling better. You will continue to be in my thoughts. I am glad they are

going to try the naso tube to see if you can tolerate the feeds before going

on with the surgery.

hugs,

laurie

Laurie,

If I can't tolerate the NJ tube than the option is TPN...neither the doc nor I am pleased with it as a long term solution.
