Gads, I just had the worst doctor's visit ever. My insurance company makes me drive 150 miles to see a doctor who is on their list. That's bad enough. But my doctor sold his practice and the new owner has nurse practitioners doing the office visits. So I got to see a nurse and she was a complete idiot. Every time I tried to talk, she talked right over the top of me, never listened to a word I said, and informed me that she would not do any allergy testing because as an adult I already know about every food I am allergic to, so there is no need to test. (really? if people already know what they are allergic to, why do allergy tests exist?). Oh, and no one ever grows out of an allergy, so if I was allergic to milk as an infant, I am still allergic to milk. I ask what do I do for calcium if I am allergic to milk, and she says what are you doing now? -- duh, I'm drinking milk.

At least I got my prescriptions refilled. But if she had called me "Sweetie" one more time, I would have come right up out of my chair and beaned her with my purse. She spent most of the visit scolding me that I had to demand that my insurance company supply me with a doctor closer to where I lived. She never heard me trying to explain that I have been struggling with them over that issue for years. You can't make an insurance company do anything they don't want to.

Then she kept saying I had medical problems so I needed to see someone. Really? I thought that was what I was doing right at that very moment. I'd called for an appointment and that's who I got to see.

I was so frustrated by the time I got out of the office, I was in tears. I can't stand that I am probably stuck with that horrible woman for my medical care.

best wishes

Chris
