Guest guest
Hi all, Phil went to the surgeon this week and they are scheduling a colonoscopy which will determine for sure if the surgery can be done. But it pretty much looks like a go. There has been no new growth and even a little shrinkage in the tumor. The chemo has reached a point where it is neither helping nor harming although it really knocks Phil's blood counts around. It appears the bleeding we were looking for may well be from the tumor and if not removed there is a chance it might begin to grow again and block the colon. <sigh> We also discussed the colostomy issue. At this time it is thought that it would be permanent. As you can imagine Phil is not thrilled about this but is working towards accepting it. The chemo will stop as soon as we determine when the surgery would be. Probably at least a 2 month break. As most of you know Phil is a Lutheran pastor. With Easter so early this year we will want to see if it is possible to do this AFTER Easter. If not then we will want it ASAP with the hope that Phil would have recovered enough to be able to preside at Holy Week and Easter services, but of course his health must be the #1 factor we consider. Overall the news looks good. And we are hopeful that this will be one step on the road to ridding him of this beast. We are realistic that with Stage 4 cancer that there are no guarantees but this is definitely a big step ahead of where we were in June 2003! The surgery gives Phil more quality time and a chance at perhaps even being one of the people who will beat this thing. As always we thank you for your prayers and wish all of you Health Happiness and God's richest blessings. Phil Narice & Timmy May
