This is pretty much normal, Lee Anne. One of the side effects of

Neulasta is bone pain, and it sounds like that is what you're

experiencing. You might talk to your doctor about it. Most

oncologist's have a triage nurse you can call with questions about your

chemo. You might try that. My oncologist did prescribe hydrocodone

for me in case I needed it with the Neulasta. Sometimes I did;

sometimes I didn't.

When I'd feel achey like that, I'd just get as much rest as I could and

I'd tell myself that the Neulasta is working. That bone pain, by the

way, is from your marrow putting out white blood cells.

I never had Neulasta but I have heard some of the women say it is normal. Prayers that you feel better soon.

Neulasta question

I had a shot of Neulasta a week ago last Saturday. I felt like I had the flu all this past week and yesterday the pain in my lower back and shoulder started. I can't seem to get rid of it. Is this normal?

Lee Anne; I am sorry you are having such a difficult time with your shot, I remember the shot and that is how my body reacted to it as well. Hang it there, you will be done before you know it.

I have been getting Neulasta now for 5 treatments (1 more to

go!!)

Yes, I have had terrible pain from it as you do. Mine usually only

lasts 3 or 4 days though. If I remember back to January when I got

the

first shot, I think the pain did last a bit longer. It does seem to

lessen up some with each shot. I hope it does for you. Is this the

first time you have gotten it? It does help keep you from getting

infections. I had the bulk of my chemo through cold and flu season

and I can honestly say that I didn't get any major infections, just

one minor cold at the beginning. I was able to get all my chemo

sessions as scheduled and now I am only 10 DAYS away from my last

one!! I hope I helped some. Best of luck!

dear lee ann i am writing for my partner who has breast cancer stage 3. she also had the nulasta. and yes it caused her terrible low back pain to the point she said she felt like her bones would explode from the inside she ultimatly enquired the cancer treatment centers of america and i gota tell ya there whole treatment approach is completely different than the conventionial doctors here in texas they are all about beating the cancer with little or no pain...mostly they are about no pain...i often wondered why other doctors havent thought of the ways of treatment that ctca has but i dont have that answer...but i encourage you to get 2nd and even 3rd opinions if it makes you feel better. and yes it does mean we have to travel to chicago from texas alot but they help with alot of the cost and they do have a facility in OK....but in the end its worth it i think.... I'm very pleased with my oncologist in Shreveport. I've seen the commercials about CTCA, but did not check into them. For me, traveling is basically out of the question as I don't have the funds to fly to Chicago and it's to far to drive. Thanks for the info though.

hi lee ann how funny we are in monroe right now...although home is in dallas... and i understand about funds for thats what i thought about it too...although they flew both of us up there to check the place out and even covered our hotel we were there 7days...and even then there was no obligation to choose them for treatment...Lee Anne wrote: Thanks Kat! SharonB, I am in Oklahoma but it is mom who has BC. I have been meaning to update you on her condition. She is healing and doing much better these days. It has taken a lot out of her but her wounds are almost healed. Next week she will see the oncologist and start planning the chemo. They wanted her healed well before starting it. Her surgeon thinks he will only do the pill with her since she is so sensitive to everything. She is allergic to everything. This past week or so she has really started acting like herself again. Doing things on her own and moving around much better. She is having nurses here to help do baths, change the bandages and has a PT guy too. They were really concerned with her osteoporosis that she might fall and break a hip. She has fell three times since surgery. Luckily nothing was hurt, just her pride. He is teaching her exercises to strengthen her legs and how to maneuver when she is shaky.

I have really enjoyed being apart of your group, reading and learning as much as possible to help mom. You gals are great!!!

Thanks nne, It has been tough on her and her sister has been sick too so each time one gets to feeling badly the other gets sick. I am hoping her chemo is very light and it causes no more trouble. She will be 75 in June.
