From what I can find out about it online, it is comprised of 50%

protein and the rest are carbs, but it is extremely high in fiber.

I do not think that Elaine would say that this is allowed on SCD.

If you have a really good scientific breakdown of the type of

carbohydrates found in hemp, please send it to me.

Just based on what I can find online, I would have to say no. I

always err on the side of caution.

What about using shelled hemp seeds rather than powder? Hemp seeds

are very high in protein, high in EFAs and they are an excellent milk

alternative for baking (not for calcium).

Anyway, the nutritional breakdown is here:

http://www.manitobaharvest.com/nutrition/index.asp?itemID=121

Don't know if this is SCD legal or not but thought I'd mention it.

The question still comes down to WHAT type of carbohydrates

are in hemp.

The nutrition label shows carbohydrates in hemp, but does not

say what type. That's why I'd still have to say no since I don't

know and haven't been able to easily determine the answer.

Seeds, in general, shouldn't be used until there have been three

months of no symptoms. At that time they are used sparingly. So no

to seed butter used in the same quantities as nut butters. A little

bit occasionally after three months with no symptoms is okay.

So, I don't think it would be a good idea for your son at this point

in the diet.
